I think all players should get cards that promote their businesses like this. I’d take a Heyward House or Best of the Batch card. Like a business trading card.

I may advise with caution if you’re planning to call that phone number though in 2026.

This card helps illustrate the domino effect perfectly

Who knew such a simple thing would lead to immortality? And well of course this card.

A Page from a 1945 Program

I’m a peaceful Steelers fan dropping by to show this program page from the Giants 10/21/45 matchup against the Steelers. Hope you all enjoy this cool piece of history!

One of the more interesting Steelers Program Covers

We all know the stories of Art Rooney’s almost divine empathy for those around him and the city he loved. But you’ve probably never seen him on the cover of this preseason program handing a stuffed rabbit to a child.

Exploring a Vintage Program

This is my copy of a 1934 Steelers v. Giants game program for their October 3 matchup.

For all of you that have been to a game and see the current programs, you can absolutely see how far we’ve come. But I do love these programs simply because they’re a time capsule to the past.

I love the old advertising as well. Not too often do you get to see players submitting ads for their own businesses these days (See the Mose Kelsch Cafe & Harp Vaughan’s Park Casino).

Also, some of the player descriptions give me a good laugh.

“A bulwark on the line.”
“Should give opponents plenty of grief”
“A scrapper with limited energy.”

Enjoy this scroll through a true throwback piece of Steelers memorabilia!

In Honor of a Certain Event

Contrary to the poster, no the Steelers did not play the famed intrasquad scrimmage on 12/15/57. They played Washington! But fun to see old pieces like this survive for over nearly 70 years!

A Very Special Gesture

Over the past few years, I’ve built my personal collection of cards and memorabilia around the idea of telling every player’s story in franchise history.

Yesterday, I received such an amazing gift and confirmation that I’m doing something worth my time! I received this gift from the son of former 1956 Steelers First Round Pick, Art Davis.

These cards were made for and given to the family by another member of the hobby community and they were generous enough to send a couple of them to me, along with a hand-written note! I’m a firm believer in every single story matters to tell Steelers history, and I’ll forever be humbled to speak with and meet former players and their families!
