Airtel postpaid SIM gets stuck at 0.01 Mbps randomly, fixes itself, then breaks again exactly a month later
I have an Airtel postpaid SIM that’s part of a family plan, and since April 5th I’ve been having a really weird issue with it.
The SIM technically works. Calls and SMS are fine, but the internet speed becomes unusably slow. I’m talking around 0.01 to 0.07 Mbps max. Apps barely load and most things just timeout.
On April 5th, I raised a complaint through the Airtel Thanks app. It gave me a resolution date of April 20th. I also tried contacting customer support multiple times but could barely connect to an actual agent.
I already ruled out it being a phone issue because I inserted another Airtel SIM from the same family plan into my phone and it worked perfectly fine. My SIM is the only one having this problem, and all bills are fully paid.
Then around April 20th, the issue randomly fixed itself and my internet started working completely normally again. The request on the Airtel app still showed “in progress,” but since the SIM was working fine, I ignored it.
Now the strange part. Around May 5th or 6th, almost exactly one month after the original issue, the same problem came back again. Speeds dropped back to around 0.01 to 0.07 Mbps and became unusable again.
I really don’t want to visit an Airtel store because the nearest one is far away, and customer support hasn’t been helpful at all.
Has anyone experienced something similar? Could this be a SIM issue, network side restriction, account issue, or something else? And is there anything I can do remotely to fix it?
