Latin Practice Shoes Recommendations
Hello! I currently rotate between 3 different Latin dance shoes depending on purpose:
• Supadance Ruby 1066 (UK 4)
My primary competition/showcase shoe. Very flexible, lightweight and articulate with excellent foot feel and line. I love the elegance and responsiveness, but they are delicate and not ideal for heavy daily training.
• Rummos Latin Heels
My preferred social dancing shoe for longer nights. More structured/stable with thicker sole, reinforced heel and more cushioning. They feel safer and more grounded on crowded floors, though noticeably stiffer than my Rubys.
• BD Dance training heels (currently testing)
Recently purchased as a dedicated practice/training shoe to preserve my Rubys. The straps don't feel very durable, though.
For context:
I socially dance Bachata/Salsa regularly
Beginning competition training/showcases
Strong preference for flexibility/articulation and precise footwork
Currently debating staying mostly in 2.5–2.6” heels for training/socials and reserving 3”/Ruby-type shoes mainly for performances and comps
Curious how other dancers balance:
training shoes vs comp shoes
durability vs articulation
heel height progression
Can anyone recommend good practice heels?
