Why is it 'musicals only' now?
There used to be more non-musicals at Mirvish. My children prefer straight plays. I still remember The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time and North by Northwest we saw together 10 years ago. Off-Mirvish still has some (we liked Things I Know to Be True, Pride and Prejudice (sort of), God of Carnage), but not Main Mirvish. Why is it so?
P.S. They used to be a good alternative to other Toronto theatres: larger casts, spectacular sets, more predictable quality… Besides, they were more adapted for a family outing than a thought-provoking play on substance abuse.
