i started posting on instagram recently, very consistently. i didn't really dabble in reels much but i want to start with that as well. a month and a half in and it really feels like i'm screaming into the void. out of 39 followers i have, 3 are people i don't know irl. i've seen accounts that started a bit after me already get significantly more traction than my account. i'm probably pretty bad at social media, but also i think a really big role also plays the algorithm that shows my posts to people from my country and region.

this would be fine if my country was my primary demographic, but illustrative artsy posts aren't really that popular here. people like realism/semi-realism and usually don't even interact/get posts from artist's on their feed. the market here is extremely small. so idk, i remember the algorithm being way more international (?) years ago, but things change.

would using a vpn make any difference?
