Change my mind. GTM Engineering is a transition period premium being charged by pretentious overnight experts just because they were early to Clay.

Title basically. I don't see a need for GTM engineering as a separate role in an organisation. Just because someone can wire in a few tools, prompt LLMs, source/clean data, and build tools doesn't mean there's a requirement for a new role like this.

Don't agree with me? Please, I'd love to be proven wrong because I work as a GTM Engineer, and this isn't an impulsive realisation.

The models are improving so rapidly, with large enough context windows, that existing roles will have powerful capabilities rather than needing a GTMe.

Outbound, Marketing, AE, or Product teams will have a kind of enhanced capability to do what a GTMe does today, with much better context and expertise.

So it's better to focus on being a really good SDR, a really good marketer, a really good demand gen guy, or a really good closer than to shift to GTMe, where, in a couple of years, this job will be a disguised form of employment.
