My son recently has turned 18 and my understanding is I have three years left to pay child support as in New York State you have to pay until the 21 years old. In my original Support order it states that I would have to pay until his birthday in the year 2029. I would like to know if this will automatically stop or will I need to contact the child support enforcement agency or even worse, hire an attorney to put a stop of it because I have heard stories of child support, continuing and father’s not realizing in paying additional child support for several years.
