Considering rehoming/surrendering a cat and don’t know where to start
I adopted my sweet cat as a kitten in 2020. She is truly lovely and I adore her. She is one of the most social and snuggly cats I’ve ever met.
Unfortunately she has a recurring issue where she gets an irritated bladder when stressed and ends up peeing where she shouldn’t. It’s been manageable and infrequent enough until recently that I’ve just been able to deal with it. But my son is now 2 and I think being in the environment with him is causing too much stress and she’s been being doing it more and more. We have 3 litter boxes that are cleaned frequently, have tried Feliway, give her food specific for urine health, and ive brought her in multiple times thinking it might be a UTI which is how I learned it was just an irritation issue.
Our house isn’t very big and I am just losing my mind finding things every day with pee on them.
I know that is probably a difficult sell and I’m so worried about what would happen to her if we rehomed her. I just truly think that being with a toddler is her biggest stressor and there isn’t anything I can do to change that. I’m so overwhelmed.
Does anyone have any suggestions or advice? I feel like surrendering a pet is so shameful and I am carrying so much guilt for considering it.
ETA: we have 2 cats and they get along fine and that has never seemed to be a source of stress for her. Both cats have been spayed since kittens and I don’t think it’s a spraying issue, just straight up peeing.
