Anyone else feel like the service in restaurants has gone down? (rant)

I'm someone who frequently checks out new places if it's interesting. Mostly around oud metha, Karama, Bur Dubai and Al Nahda-Qusais areas. Also applies to malayali cafeterias/restaurants

Something I have been noticing recently is the service in these places have been shabby. Here are some of the things I have been facing

  1. You enter the place and nobody takes your order for a good long time. You see staff standing and chit-chatting but they don't notice you until you make it very clear.

  2. Many times it feels like they're just rushing to take your order which makes you think if they even full heard it

  3. Sometimes unusually long wait times

  4. When the food finally arrives, it's the wrong order. Something missing, something extra or something different which makes you rethink about point number 2.

  5. When it comes to payment, this goes back to civic sense. It's such a chaos at the counter because everyone is just trying to put their card forward and shouting their order and no system in place.

What do you guys think?

Is July and August slower when it comes to hiring here?

Been hearing from different sources that hiring slows down during these summer months. What's it like and how to navigate?

I am actively looking for opportunities in social media, copywriting and any content related roles. I have experience in account management as well speaking to clients. I have about 2.5 years of experience across these skills.

Please let me know if there's a role that you would know of!

Please follow theatre etiquettes (rant)

I watched Drishyam 3 in Mirdif City Center two days ago and just want to say I wasn't able to fully enjoy the movie because of these reasons:

  1. People talking loudly - There was this one group who took the last row seats and they were extremely loud. I think they were drunk because they were laughing and screaming with each other so I couldn't hear some of the dialogues. During the interval, that group left briefly and the people in front of them were telling basically everyone that they are very loud and we're not able to enjoy the movie.

  2. Please stop shaking your legs while you're seated as it causes a bit of disturbance - The people who were sitting next to us were shaking their legs and it caused our seats to move a bit as well which were a distraction.

This is unintentional but please if you have this issue, just be mindful the person next to you will not like it.

  1. Parents of younger kids - I understand that you want to enjoy your weekends but again a theatre is not the place kids should ideally be in. They will naturally get cranky and it causes a disturbance for the others. There were so many kids in the theatre at the time who were crying and talking loudly. If possible, please arrange for someone to look after your kids for those few hours. Friends or family.

  2. Please respect the space - I saw a whole box of popcorn scattered across the floor and some Pepsi spilt on seats. Let's do better than this. Someone else has to clean it after. Let's make it a little easier for them.

Share any other experiences you have faced in the theatre?
