Thursday Shave

Thursday Shave

Razor: TGS Bayonetta

Blade: Feather Hi-Stainless (1)

Bowl: Captain's Choice Obsidian

Brush: RazoRock Hive

Soap: Stirling Bay Rum

Balm: Nivea Sensitive

Splash: Captain's Choice Cat O'Nine Tails

For a razor with a very accessible price point, the Bayonetta shaves really well and looks good as well.

A very nice shave this morning.

Tuesday Shave

Razor: Wolfman WR2 1.35

Blade: Personna Comfort Coated (1)

Bowl: Captain's Choice Obsidian

Brush: Simpson Chubby 2

Soap: Martin de Candre Fougère

Balm: Nivea Sensitive

Splash: Brut Classic

This was my moment of truth shave. The new WR2 is certainly a work of art, but how would it shave?

Would the 1.35mm gap be perfect for me, or would the razor be for sale by the end of the day? I've read enough posts online to know some people work through several before finding what works for them.

To be honest, I needn't have worried. When I was working on the specs with Tara at Wolfman, I told her that I really enjoyed using my 0.84mm Guerrilla, but thought I could handle a little step up in efficiency. She suggested the 1.35, and while I flirted with going up to 1.45, I went with her recommendation, and she was spot on.

There's a little blade feel, but not too much; the razor is super smooth, and the efficiency is just what I was looking for.

Wolfman WR2

The FedEx guy delivered my WR2 today, a thing of beauty.

This was a project that started in December last year and has finally come to fruition - largely due to Tara at Wolfman, who patiently answered my huge number of questions.

Anyway, it’s a WR2, antique bronze with 1.35mm solid bar plate and Darwin handle.

I’m really looking forward to the first shave tomorrow.

Bowl: Captain's Choice Obsidian

Brush: TRC/AP Shaving Deep Blue

A great shave using a blade I’d given up on over a year ago.

Just shows that an efficient razor (and over 350 shaves) can make a big difference.

Rambling House Building for Sale

Although the Rambling House site still refers to the "Temporary Hiatus", there is now a large For Sale sign in the window.

A shame, this was such a nice restaurant, and they had done a fantastic job of renovating the building.

I wonder how long it will now sit empty? It would be great if someone were to buy it and bring a good dining place back, but I can't say I'm overly confident.

Thursday Shave

Razor: Greencult 2.0, Plate III

Blade: Gillette GSB (1)

Bowl: Captain's Choice Obsidian

Brush: Simpson Trafalgar T3

Soap: Le Père Lucien Vetiver

Balm: Nivea Sensitive

Splash: Malizia Uomo Vetyver

I tend to think of the Greencult as my industrial chic razor. It’s not going to win any beauty contests, but it has a certain charm and it certainly gets the job done.

This was a very nice shave, helped along by a couple of super Vetiver scents.

Hone Type 15 | Feather New Hi-Stainless (3) | Captain's Choice Obsidian bowl | Kent BLK8S brush | RazoRock Don Marco | Nivea Sensitive | Clubman Whiskey Woods

A nice shave earlier today with the Big Bronze Beast.

It’s pretty mild, but as I’ve gotten my technique dialled in, I consistently get good close shaves.

Been a while since I used the Don Marco soap, very luxurious lather today 😀
