My morning shave, with the beautiful Ares, was close to perfect. I find the V2 Ares to be just a little more efficient than the Athena. I love how well both these razors perform, shaving closely while also being really smooth.

Today, I paired the Ares with a Comfort Coated blade on its second use (the sweet spot), along with the excellent Don Marco soap and had a super shave.

I don’t seem to use The Don as often as I should. It is a vegan soap made for RazoRock by TFS, and it always provides a rich, slick lather with a nice orange ice cream scent. Today, it helped make this a super shave.

Of course, a quality brush helps with building a good lather, and the Deep Blue from AP Shave took good care of that today. I always enjoy using this brush; the handle shape is very ergonomic, and the synthetic MiG (Made in Germany) knot reminds me of the always consistent Muhle STF.

This was my first shave with the level III open comb plate, and it is rather effective.

Lots of blade feel and really close shaving - care is needed for sure.

A fantastically smooth shave was the result, but I wouldn’t recommend this plate for daily use, that’s for sure!

Shave 5 of my week using unscented soaps and teaming up the Southern Witchcrafts soap with my Ti Blackbird; it should make for a good shave.

And a good shave it was.

It was easy to make a good lather from the Southern Witchcrafts soap and the BB with the open comb plate is just a fantastic razor.

A 🔟 / 🔟 shave today.

Would I buy Southern Witchcrafts Incorporeal soap again? Possibly, but I've lost track of whether the company is gone for good or might come back. The soap is quite good, and it’s vegan - it doesn’t get into my top three, though.

Shave 4 of my week using only my unscented soaps.

The Canada soap is often compared with Martin de Candre Nature and I can certainly see why. It is a hard soap that, like the MdC, lathers quickly and easily and is nice and slick in use. Does it match MdC? I’d say not totally, but it is close.

My razor of choice today was the Assassin 2.0 with a 7 O’Clock SP (black) blade, and it did a great job of getting a totally smooth BBS result with my usual two-pass technique.

Would I buy the Canada soap again? Yeah, for sure - it’s vegan and works very well.

Shave 3 of my week using only my unscented soaps. I’ve always ranked Unscented with Beeswax as one of my top three in this category, so I was looking forward to this one.

Of course, Theo at Lambda makes incredible razors, and the bronze Ares is such a pleasure to use. With a PDG blade and the excellent Stirling lather, it would have been difficult to fail today.

Just a brilliant shave.

Would I buy Unscented with Beeswax again? I would if Simpson made a vegan version.

The final shave of my MdC week, and it was a good one.

The bronze Timeless with the OC plate is a close shaving machine - it needs a little care in use, but it is so rewarding.

Today’s shave was typical of what I achieve with this razor, a totally smooth result in my usual two passes.

An evening shave today, with three days of growth to deal with.

My tool of choice was the black Blackbird Ti, with open comb plate. The backplate only arrived earlier today, so I cheated for the SOTD image and posed the razor with the stainless oc plate, before we left for the weekend.

The new satin finish Ti plate, shaved really well - the bristles had no chance at all (they were 99% gone after the first pass), especially against an Agrumes lather. My second pass sealed the deal!

Thanks to using it for 28 shaves back in March, my Guerrilla 84 is by far my most-used razor this year.

It’s the perfect daily driver; efficient enough for a BBS result in my usual two passes, while also being smooth and simple to use. Just fantastic to use.

The supporting cast was really good today as well. I’ve had the Minora blades in my shave backup box since last year, but this is the first time I’ve shaved with one. My first impression is that it is sharp and smooth - just what I like.

Soap and splash were top class as well - MdC is my favorite lather and the recently arrived Rose Noire splash with a masculine dark rose scent - good stuff that goes well with the Rose soap.

I never got to use an original ATT razor product, but this Blackland-built version just shaves really well.

With a second-use Personna Platinum blade and excellent Chiseled Face lather, this was a great way to start the day.

I was running around doing errands this morning, so I'm doing a late-morning shave today.

The Ares V2, with MdC Rose lather, was a brilliant combination.

A Personna PDG blade certainly helps with getting a good result, and today's shave was first class. Like the Athena, the Ares V2 is way more efficient than the specs would suggest.

A flawless shave this morning, with the excellent WR2 1.35mm.

This razor is super efficient (after one pass, the result is just about BBS level), but is also smooth and easy to use.

The B&M soap needs plenty of water to build a slick lather, but once it did, it helped the Dorco Prime blade perform really well. The blade was just about done after the second pass, the third use of this one.

The juniper scent of North aftershave, was a nice finishing touch!

I thought it would be interesting to try my black Ti Blackbird with the open comb baseplate from my stainless steel version - it’s nice that parts are interchangeable between the different models.

So, I’d been looking forward to this shave and from the very first stroke I knew it was going to be a success.

I like the little extra weight over the all-Ti razor, and the balance feels good as well. The OC plate is my favorite in the SS razor, and it performed superbly well this morning.

With a fresh Comfort Coated blade and superb MdC lather, the shave was a winner.

I rather like the 2-tone look as well 😀

Getting Sunday off to a great start with a first-class shave, using my Carbon razor.

The razor seemed to be very happy with my choice of the Wizamet blade, and the combination was smooth and efficient, just what the doctor ordered!

After a less than stellar shave yesterday, I was really looking forward to this morning to get things back on the straight and narrow.

Everything was in place this morning: a really good razor with a fresh Gillette GSB blade, my favorite Martin de Candre shaving soap, and the brilliant RV Shaving brush. I needn't have worried; the shave was pretty much perfect.

Two passes, and everything is super smooth with zero irritation.
