A flawless shave this morning, with the excellent WR2 1.35mm.

This razor is super efficient (after one pass, the result is just about BBS level), but is also smooth and easy to use.

The B&M soap needs plenty of water to build a slick lather, but once it did, it helped the Dorco Prime blade perform really well. The blade was just about done after the second pass, the third use of this one.

The juniper scent of North aftershave, was a nice finishing touch!

I thought it would be interesting to try my black Ti Blackbird with the open comb baseplate from my stainless steel version - it’s nice that parts are interchangeable between the different models.

So, I’d been looking forward to this shave and from the very first stroke I knew it was going to be a success.

I like the little extra weight over the all-Ti razor, and the balance feels good as well. The OC plate is my favorite in the SS razor, and it performed superbly well this morning.

With a fresh Comfort Coated blade and superb MdC lather, the shave was a winner.

I rather like the 2-tone look as well 😀

Getting Sunday off to a great start with a first-class shave, using my Carbon razor.

The razor seemed to be very happy with my choice of the Wizamet blade, and the combination was smooth and efficient, just what the doctor ordered!

After a less than stellar shave yesterday, I was really looking forward to this morning to get things back on the straight and narrow.

Everything was in place this morning: a really good razor with a fresh Gillette GSB blade, my favorite Martin de Candre shaving soap, and the brilliant RV Shaving brush. I needn't have worried; the shave was pretty much perfect.

Two passes, and everything is super smooth with zero irritation.

It wasn’t the greatest shave today.

While I usually get very good results with the Greencult razor, today it just felt really tuggy and the final result wasn’t that great.

I’m not sure if the problem was the blade, the lather, or maybe me.

A wonderful shave for number 200 of the year. The Timeless .78 is an amazingly efficient razor.

La Toja shave stick - it’s just a prop. I don’t get along with it so I’ve grated the soap into a tin instead, it works great that way 😀

A very nice morning shave to get the day off to a good start. Le Maurice is smooth and easy to use, but still effective enough for a 100% result with my usual two passes.

Unscented with Beeswax is probably my favourite tallow-based soap, and produced the usual excellent lather, making sure things went smoothly.

The Hone Type 15 is such an interesting razor.

Big, bold and bronze, but also quite mild. With a sharp blade and good technique it does a great job.

On August 6 last year, I shaved for the first time with my shiny new copper Athena.

It was a great first shave and today’s, exactly 12 months later, was just as good.

The first shave with a new razor is always something to look forward to.

This beautiful bronze Ares arrived a couple of days ago, but I only got to unbox and have the first shave this morning.

I’ve been a little concerned because I’ve read that the V2 isn’t as efficient as the V1 Ares, and I wondered if it would work well for me.

There was no need to worry. With a Comfort Coated blade, the razor made short work of four days of growth and produced an impeccable result with my usual two-pass technique. It feels like the razor might be a little more efficient than the Athena.
