Fistula too deep??
The doctor originally told me that my veins were really small and he wasn’t sure if there was even a good spot and if he could do one that it might be a two part surgery (which i forgot about). After my first surgery, we were told that it was a difficult procedure, took 2 hours instead of 35 minutes and that he was unsure if it was even going to mature. Fast forward to my 6 week follow up, he says it looks and sounds fantastic and it’s matured very well but since it’s too deep I need another surgery to bring it closer to the surface. I’m just really discouraged and worried about this second procedure, has anyone had this done before? How did it go for you? What has been your experience with getting it cannulated, is it working okay now?
25(f) and I’ve been on hemo for a little over a year with ESRD. I know a year is nothing for this journey for most people but it’s hard being young and having the chest cath, not getting to swim or go to the gym and lift like I used too. Was really looking forward to getting it out semi soon and now time keeps getting tacked on.
