Long story short, I was doing some research on gamification for my job and decided to start a Neopets account again after not playing for maybe 15-20 years. I did not expect to be sucked back in like that, but here we are! I'm now collecting paint brushes, petpets, and all things Chomby.

Anyway, I'm 10 days in, have 12M NP in the bank after buying a few splurge items:

• Maraquan Paint Brush
• Chomby Morphing Potion
• ~65 PetPets
• Nearly the entire Chomby plushie collection

I thought I'd share what I did so other newbies like me can get there too. For reference, ToD = Tales of Dacardia and FF = Faerie Fragments.

• Playing the mobile apps - I played Faerie Fragments a bunch because it's kind of addicting, and earned enough bronze coins for a Jacques Stamp, which I then sold on trading post. That got me my initial 17M, part of which I used to buy a Maraquan PB. You can also get rare items for reaching FF level milestones. ToD also has great rewards, especially right now with the Donation Dome.
• Doing dailies every day - I do dailies on Neopets, ToD, and FF with my morning coffee and it's a fun way to start my day, and then I check everything again and play some games in the evening if I feel up to it. I spun the Wheel of Monotony the other day and got a stamp worth 8M!
• Leveling up and playing the Battledome - I used early NP to buy codestones which I used to level up my Chomby. I've only been battling really low level competitors but I've gotten some rare/resellable items as prizes.
• Buying rare items in other "currencies" - Spending other currencies (e.g. pearly neggs in ToD, bronze coins in FF, void plot points, etc.) on rare items then reselling them has brought me probably 85% of the amount of Neopoints I've won.

Things that I found to be a waste of time/money in my first 10 days (YMMV):

• Alien Aisha Vending Machine (you can sell Nerkmids you get from the Battledome for 35-40K)
• Training at the Academy (do the Mystery Island Training School instead, it's cheaper and faster!)
• Playing games (I haven't explored all of the games but the ones I've played have MAYBE given me 500 NP a pop)
• Collecting stamps (I've gotten some cool/rare ones but I know that filling out pages is nearly impossible/extremely expensive as a new player and my perfectionist brain can't handle that so I've sold those instead for other pursuits lol)
• Restocking (I'm getting more and more into this now but it's just too hard in the beginning to learn/know what's worth buying)
