Sinuses/Roof of mouth - Swelling, Pain.
I am 10 days post double jaw surgery. Lower jaw is a breeze but upper jaw is still tight, tender, swollen ect.
I have a lot of extra pressure in my sinus cavities since day 6 post op. (This happened because I felt like I had a lump of phlem coming down my nasal drip, so I sniffed up the mucus into my throat to hacked it up and spit it out. I immediately got sore and puffed up). I asked the surgical team if I needed to go to A&E or have a CAT scan and they said no, just dont blow my nose and it will resolve.
However, I am still having these problems and I'm just wondering is there ANYTHING I can do to help release this pressure? It is intense like its needs to pop. Something similar so when you're going up in a plane and your ears need to pop. Additionally, when it flares up badly I do start to get shifting pressure like that in my ear.
I am able to fully breath though my nose so I don't think there is a huge amount of mucus stuck there now.
Because everything is swollen, particularly my palette on the roof of my mouth, when I swallow my tongue pushes hard off it and the back of my teeth. This disturbs it also and causes more of flare up. I'm worried the fractured bone in my upper jaw won't be getting a chance to heal in between every knock my tongue gives it every time I have to swallow.
Anyone know what I've done to myself and how to ease it??
