Join Palo Alto Forward for a walking tour of housing projects and proposals near California Avenue Caltrain to help us imagine the future of housing in Palo Alto. We’ll tour three housing developments along California Ave, Alta Housing’s California Park, a successful affordable housing community; 231 Grant, a project for local teachers and district staff; and Mollie Stone’s, a site with recent residential projects proposed*.

Bagels provided at the beginning, lunch provided at the end!

*The Mollie Stones project(s) on Cal Ave will be considered at the Palo Alto City Council meeting on this Monday, May 18. Customize an email to council with this link to show your support for a project bringing 380+ homes, a rooftop bar, and (replacement) grocery store next to our Cal Ave train station and small business corridor.

"Palo Alto needs over 6,086 units by 2031. As of the end of 2024, they've permitted about 500. ... Palo Alto took two and a half years to approve 55 teacher housing apartments. Imagine scaling that process across over 6000 units."

*so it actually looks pretty much the same for now, since none of those units have been built yet.

‘We’re in horse country’: Esther Clark Park residents fight housing project

By the standards of most recent projects, the development at 4103 Old Trace Road is relatively modest: nine homes, some of them equipped with accessory dwelling units and junior accessory dwelling units, for a total of 16 units....located close the intersection of two busy streets, Arastradero Road and Foothill Expressway and a brief walk from Gunn High School.
