AITA? For saying this to my friend?
Hey guys, here are some important things to know about the story. We will call this guy Z.
• me and my friend are 13
• We both have only been friends for about 4 months
• he had a girlfriend, but recently broke up with her
• he goes to some events that I go to every week
So, I'm going to go straight to the story and then do the back story on everything else. Me and my brother go to this youth group every Tuesday, and my brother had invited Z to the end of school bash they hosted at church on Friday May 15. But when I told one of my friends who I trusted to keep a secret that I had really liked Z it spread like a wild fire. At least in my friend group lol. The one thing I did sort of tell her was that he had a girlfriend but like I said previously he broke up with her and I found that out from my brother. When I had got there the only seat open was the one next to his chair and my friend saw this as a good opportunity to get us close together. They (my friends) were behind me and Z so they started teasing me and scooting our chairs closer together.
After like 2 hours into this end of school bash (the event was 4 hours long with the games they played and stuff) there was this little girl who I will call M. M overheard that I had told my friend that I liked Z so I guess she just went up and told him while I was in the bathroom. I mean I don't blame her for getting the truth out and stuff but I didn't know that she even told him till my brother told me. Again.
I went uncomfortable knowing he knew I liked him so I stayed quiet around him a little bit.
Later that night once I got home he texted me through my YouTube account and asked me why one of my friends came up to him and asked if he liked me. I was to chicken and at this point I was tired and wanted to go to bed and said that they were just teasing me over random stuff AKA teasing me over him. And I said I was sorry and that she came up to him and said that. Plus I know they like to stir drama up sometimes too. He just said it was ok and that his friends tease him too.
Now after it being Sunday today I feel weird that he hasn't talked to me or my brother at least that I know of. But, everyone kept saying that he might have liked me too. I do really like him a lot it was the fact that he literally JUST got out of a relationship with another girl and I want to give him time. Or I don't want to seem pushy but yet I still want him to know I like him.
Please help idk what to do anymore and my brother said that when he was in the bathroom and was talking with Z about what happened Z said, " I'm cool with it" or that he was ," fine" about what she said.
Am I the asshole for saying that my friends were just teasing me?
