My wife and I have two young teenagers, and I’m trying to get more disciplined about our monthly spending. At the same time, I don’t want my wife to feel like she can’t enjoy herself or buy things she wants, and the kids are at the age where clothes, shoes, and keeping up with current styles suddenly matter a lot.

Obviously we can’t just spend whatever we want, but I also don’t want budgeting to make everyone miserable.

For those of you who have found a system that actually works, how do you handle it? Do you give everyone a monthly spending amount? Have separate budgets for clothes, eating out, entertainment, etc.? Do you budget every dollar at the beginning of the month or just set spending limits?

Basically, I’m curious how other families balance saving and being responsible with still enjoying the money you work for.

I was thinking of adding these lights. I think they look great but I see alot of hate. Just wondering why??

I do not care about internet at all. I just want to be able to make and receive phone calls if needed. Is there normal cell service at sea or does your phone lose signal once you’re away from land? Also do I actually need the $22/day plan (assuming it’s the cruise/mobile package) just to make calls, or is there another option for voice only? Trying to avoid paying for internet when I literally just want phone service. Verizon has a 20 a day cruise pass?

Is it a guaranteed lousey room staring at a yellow boat?
