Woodstove delete mod?
This is the stove in my first home. I am renovating it to be a long term rental - Portland, Oregon area (no severe or extended winters). The home was built in 1981, which is the birthdate of this stove's installation. I've been told that if I were to sell the home, this stove would have to go because codes or whatever. It works wonderfully, but I would like to take it out along with the platform it's on and convert it to a sort of built-in bookshelf - for safety and functionality. Once I remove it - what should I expect my next steps towards sealing the chimney to be? blocking it off at the roof? Or just above where the pipe meets the top of the cabinet there? other bits of knowledge that may go along with my project are much appreciated.
