Was salt ever produced in Salthill?
I know Salthill is Bóthar na Trá in Irish, but I am wondering about the 'salt' part of Salthill.
Forsythe et al (2021) The Archaeology of Salt Production in Post-Medieval Ireland mention's that "At Salthill in south Dublin, ‘large shallow troughs or pans cut in sheets of rock for aerial evaporation… were in existence till after the Kingstown railway was made’.
I'm wondering if anyone has ever heard of any connection to salt production in Salthill, Galway.
