Did I make a Funny German Joke?

We've been living in our small town now for about 3 years and go to our neighborhood Diska almost daily.

At the Diska cash register is an elderly lady who many may consider the " stereotypical" elderly lady cashier. Never smiling, seems grumpy, impatient, quick with the scanning items so keep up or else, annoyed if your payment isn't prepared type of deal.

(Side note: after our German improved and we started exercising it more turns out she is actually quite nice!)

Anyway, we went for a bike ride and I normally leave my wallet home and only bring a card and a few euros when exercising.

She scans our items and asked for our "Payback Karte" and my wife and I scramble looking for it and I remembered it is in my wallet. My wife has her phone and I remembered she has the app. So she scans the app. And I said "payback handy!"

The cashier bursts out laughing with the biggest smile and found it very amusing. It made me happy to see that. I've never seen her smile or look anything other than grumpy.

I know people say German humor is "dry" but did I inadvertently make a joke in German?

Edited for spelling correction
