Does a lord defending against a World Breaker Vassal invoke outrage?
Hey guys, my buddies and I are loving the campaign expansion but we’re into 3rd Chapter and things are getting crunchy….
The scenario: I’ve got the Warden fate and another player is the World Breaker. They are also my vassal in a cluster, in which they are deploying a Planet Breaking move.
During the planet breaking process they damage my cities on the target planet, causing outrage against them by all the cities in that cluster’s fief (vassal harming lord fief rules). But as part of the planet breaking move I am able to try and prevent the planet’s destruction by returning fire with my ships against them.
Our confusion now lies with whether this harm by the lord back against their vassal causes similar cluster-wide outrage against the lord as well?
The Planet Breaker player says yes, harm is harm no matter whether it is done as a defensive measure or not. There’s nothing on the cluster card’s rules specifying an exception.
I the Warden, says no, as it’s not part of a regular aggression move. Also it means I earn outrage either way, whether by sitting back and letting the planet being destroyed or by attempting to defend and upsetting all the cluster cities in the fief anyway. (Feels a bit like a no-win choice.)
What do you think? And are there any clarifying rules about this rather specific scenario?
