Snake drafting leaders and lore

Curious to know if Cole Wehrle and crew have ever talked about why they went with the draft structure they chose for leaders and lore, rather than a snake draft.

The player choosing last in both their first choice and second choice of leader/lore seems to be at a big disadvantage that I don't think is balanced by taking the first action in Chapter 1. It would seem to make more sense to allow them to draft last and then first to at least allow them to find some synergy between their cards. This would balance losing the top 3 best cards to the other players.

Does anyone else play with a snake draft instead of rules as written? If not, what is your reasoning for why the current system is more balanced? I am open to opinions on this.

How do you feel about "Silver Tongues?"

Arcs came up in another thread. I have my thoughts on it, but I only play casually, so I wanted to see what people here thought about the card Silver Tongues.

Would a Cole Wehrle game work as a movie or TV show?

I’ve been thinking about this lately: what would a movie or TV series based on one of Cole Wehrle’s games actually look like?
His games have so much political intrigue, shifting alliances, competing factions, backstabbing, and worldbuilding that it feels like there’s potentially a great TV adaptation hiding in there.
I could especially imagine Root as an animated series, or Oath as a darker fantasy/political drama. Even Arcs could work really well as a space-opera series.
But I’m curious what people who actually know his games think on which Cole Wehrle game with Kyle Ferrin’s illustration style would make the best movie or TV show?
Would you want a direct adaptation of the game’s world, or something that simply uses its setting/lore as inspiration?
I think the political nature of their games would translate well to screen.
My main question would be if this one of those things that sounds great in theory but would completely lose what makes the games special 😅

Warden Question (Blighted Reach)

My wife and I are playing Blighted Reach and have encountered a weird scenario. I am playing Warden and she is the Pathfinder so she has a flagship. She took the Claims of Nobility card via securing it and now has the chance to use it. But with a flagship she doesn’t have any cities on the map. So is she unable to be a Lord of The Cluster because of the flagship and having no loyal cities on the map? Thanks ahead of time for the rules clarification and help!

Meh First game

Me and 2 other friends just played our first game and it didnt click as much as i wanted it to. Oftentimes it felt like you couldnt do anything and even then you didnt know what to do since you didnt have an objective. You couldnt really get an objective without being in the lead which felt random, so most turns bogged down to a singular action that you didnt know what to do with. Thing is i really want to enjoy the game since i do see some potential. I guess my question is for some basic strategy and also find convincing arguments so i can persuade my friends to play it again since they also didnt really have a good time.

Founder no longer a Commonwealth Member - Looking for advice on how to proceed

Hey folks!

My playgroup have been working through our first attempt at Blighted Reach over the past little while. We're just moving on to Act 3 and I've found myself in a pretty odd scenario:

Act 1 saw me as the Founder. I was able to successfully become an Outlaw and, without too much opposition, was able to complete my objective.

Act 2, continuing as the Founder, is where things got a little wacky. Another player had successfully completed Act 1 as the Caretaker, and was enjoying his Golem Management Simulator in the second as they started to go unstable. Notably, this added Knowledge Set Free to the game, allowing players to donate Lore Cards during summit, assuming the recipient was willing.

The Keeper Ambition had been declared as the Commonwealth Ambition, and I was sitting on almost all of the Relics. We were on the second last turn when a Summit was called, and we realized that the Caretaker did not have more Lore than anyone else, would not be able to score another Lore card, and was a single point away from completing their objective. This is where I saw my damning opportunity: I offered him my Book of Liberation during the summit. He accepted, as it was the only way he saw to maintain his Caretaker Fate going into Act 3.

Some of you might see where this is going.

On the final round of the final Chapter, I was able to attack a Free City as the Founder of the Commonwealth, as I no longer had the Book of Liberation preventing me from doing so. Harming it stripped me of my Commonwealth Membership, while still being the Founder of the Commonwealth, and allowed me to singularly score the Commonwealth Ambition as a non-member netting me double the Power of first and second place combined.

It was a hilarious moment for the table seeing as how absurd it was for the Founder to no longer be a member strictly because of the Caretaker's Summit addition, and it seemed pretty good at the time rocketing ahead in Power. However, I quickly realized that I'm now in a bit of trouble, as I'm no longer a member of the Empire (all three other players still are), AND I'm no longer a member of the Commonwealth (all three other players still are). So, I've decided to pivot to my alternative Fate going into Act 3 as the Redeemer.

Anyone have any advice on how not to get choked out by the super-coalition that is made up of all three of my rivals?

Should I consolidate everything into one box or wait and keep it all separate for now?

Just got my copy of Arcs that shipped early from the most recent kickstarter, but it might be a second before I can get it to the table. I’m moving soon and need to start packing stuff to get ready…. But it looks like the whole game can be consolidated into the box for the campaign expansion if I remember right?

The Kickstarter package came with arcs,
The campaign expansion, leaders and lore, and a sweet lookin playmat. If that all fits into one box, that’s gonna be great for the move, BUT does that mess up the campaign integration? I hear the smart thing to do is get a few reps of the base game in before you even LOOK at the campaign box. If the smartest thing to is keep all the content separate until your group gets a few games in, I should probably keep it all in the box it shipped in and just tape it back up until the move is done.

Or does all that not actually fit in the same box (with sleeves ideally) and I just dreamed that somehow?

Is controlling planets really this simple?

Hey everyone,

I was playing the Arcs Blighted Reach campaign with my brother and I ended up with the Overlord as a C fate. The victory condition states that you need to control planet types matching your outrage. Everywhere else the rules talk about controlling systems and nothing separate about controlling planets, so we understood this to mean that you have to have a structure on the planet to control it.

But then we stumbled upon the line about the player having the most loyal ships controlling the system and its contents, which feels like it makes things a bit too easy?

So when controlling planets, is it just enough to have more loyal ships than anyone else in the system? And does Empire impact this in any way, if all players are still regents?

EDIT: Thank you everyone for your answers, it's clear now!
