Help with Camera replacement. D500 -> ??
I've gotten into wildlife photography recently. I'm on a budget so most of the Z's are out of my price range. I purchased a D7500 with a 200-500mm f/5.6 refurbished from Nikon. I then decided to upgrade to the D500. I purchased one from MPB used that had a shutter count of 3,122.
Unfortunately, it arrived and was sitting on firmware v1.00. I think that with v1.00 i can't even use CFexpress type B cards, I would need to update the firmware to use them. Unfortunately, this camera will not update. I called Nikon and they walked me through some things and when none worked they said I would need to send it in for repair. I opted to just return it to MPB, but they have no D500's in stock with a similar shutter count.
Now, I'm stuck with either keeping it or just getting a refund. I opted for a refund, but now I don't know when I may find a decent D500.
What would you recommend me do? Z8/Z9's are out of the question. I could buy a Z6III with an FTZII adapter, which puts me at the top end of my budget. But I've heard about a glitch that Z6III's may have. I won't know until I get it and it starts glitching which would probably be after the 14 day return period.
Thanks for your responses. Happy shooting!
Update on the babies at the rookery.
They’re growing so fast. It’s amazing to watch!
I spent some time this morning at the rookery in Savannah. Saw lots of babies and cool birds. Egrets, Anhingas, a Bald Eagle and a Red tailed hawk; to name a few.
