Looking to buy my first EV. Advice needed
Hello, I’m looking to upgrade my 2014 gas car for an EV. I have a daily commute to work of 120km round trip, so gas has been costing a fortune - and with a baby on the way, it’s time for something a little more reliable.
To preface, I’ve only ever bought used cars, it never made financial sense for me to buy new, and I don’t really care about driving something nice.
I’ve been looking at used EV and found the 2022/2023 Bolt EUV to be going for around 23-25K dollars before tax with fairly low mileage (around 60k).
Yesterday for fun I booked a test drive on a brand new 2027 Bolt. I sat down with the guy and the out the door price including all taxes and fees was 39k
Am I crazy to think the brand new 2027 bolt is a better value? For only 10-12k more I’m getting a newer car that should last me longer and with all the battery upgrades that the 2027 has over the 2023.
Not to mention financing the new car has much more attractive rates.
I’m very hesitant about buying a brand new car, I’ve typically always viewed buying new as a waste of money, but I’m not sure that’s the case here.
