Grizzle charger out of stock? Any idea how long the wait?

Not looking to join the grizzle club, just want to buy the charger outright. Looks like it's $500 but out of stock.

What EV SUV for small family and drive for work?

I currently have a Subaru crosstrek and we are quickly outgrowing it. Only one child but we are both tall. We live rurally which makes us drive more. I also drive for work so it makes sense to go electric soon as I get kms reimbursed. I can drive up to 150kms a day for work sometimes. AWD is not mandatory.

I’m looking for something bigger than a crosstrek but I don’t need 3 rows of seats. Seems to be a lot of options for a crossover style that is similar to the crosstrek with leg room and trunk space.

New to EV research and would appreciate any recommendations in mid price ranges.

Thanks

Car for short commute

Hi !
I’d like some suggestion on which car I should by next.
At the moment, I have a 2015 Corolla LE with 200 000km. I bought it used 8 years ago (I’m the second driver). I had it inspected yesterday at a local garage and everything looks great according to the mecanic (bushing need to be monitored). I love that car. It always brings me from point A to B and hasn’t cost me too much in maintenance/repair so far.

The plan is to possibly give it to my stepson next year when he’ll get is driver license. I’ve spent the weekend looking at what car I should buy and I’m quite lost.

I don’t do a lot of distance. My job is 6km from my house, so 12km a day and a few errands. So I maybe 500-700km a month, max. I want something reliable that will last me a long time and that won’t cost me a fortune to maintain. I’d like to stay under 35K CAD. The goal is to buy the car and use it until it dies. I’m not a car person, so the drive doesn’t have to be exciting. I have an electric plug at home because my husband has an electric car.

From what I read, an EV could be a good option for me, but… which one? Do you guys have any recommandation for someone in my situation?

Thank you

So do we really need to wait until December 2026 the earliest possible time for chinese ev companies to make their appearances in Canada?

Looks like BYD is rumoured to be showcasing in December 2026

I know we are close to it but man the wait has been so long.

The rest of chinese ev companies are set to make their stage presence in Canada starting 2027.

The wait is so real I just wish they could give us glimpse or something.

How many kwh’s is your EV using per month?

Thinking about getting an EV and just wondering roughly how much energy they actually use a month.

I know their range drops in the winter so I’m guessing their energy usage goes up a fair bit in winter months. I’m in Alberta so we get some long stretches of pretty cold days in the winter.

If any of you that keep spread sheets have a pretty good idea of how much energy in kWh you average per month. As well what type of vehicle and how many kms per month would be all very useful data for me.

Thanks!

Dealer playing games with EVAP

So the cost of this EV I'm looking at comes out to $50,827 for the purposes of the EVAP calculation.

I told the dealer that I could only afford it if I can get the EVAP rebate. So they crunched the numbers and said ok we can do that. But when I got the updated pricing sheet, they just deducted the $5,000 from the original deal.

So I think they're trying to double dip by making me pay the extra $827 and then claim the EVAP as well.

They can't do that right? Because my final bill of sale should have everything itemized including the $5,000 EVAP rebate deducted from the out the door price?

Edit: I didn't have the deal I signed at work so was going off memory but here's the exact breakdown. I guess it's not my problem but I don't see how they're going to be able to submit the EVAP rebate based on this breakdown.

  • MSRP $54,290.00
  • Freight $2,995.00
  • Discount -$3,463.00
  • Licencing $59.00
  • OMVIC $22.00
  • A/C Tax $100.00
  • Taxable Total $54,003.00
  • HST $7,020.39
  • Total Amount $61,023.39
  • EVAP -$5,000.00
  • Net Due $56,023.39

Third-party fast charge adapters

hi folks! the vast majority of fast chargers in my area (southern Quebec) use CCS connectors. how are folks with the ever more prevalent NACS port in their cars deal with the need for adapters?

“Just order from A2Z” is a common reply but my boggle is that manufacturers will scare you with “if you don’t use an approved-by-us adapter and theres an issue your warranty will be void” - and approved adapters at dealerships are like 2X what an A2Z costs. so i‘d certainly prefer to go A2Z but am concerned about the warranty scare tactic (I guess it worked on me!)

thanks for any insights or experience on this topic!

Mach E level 1 charging speed

I just pulled the trigger on a Mach E extended range and trying to decide if I actually need a level 2 charger.

My daily commute is 100 km round trip with 14 hours available to charge over night in my garage. And then on the typical weekend I might only drive 50 km all weekend.

I should be ok with level 1 right? My only concern is in the winter with the reduced range. Will I have any issue with that?

Uncharted Sport vs Mach-E Premium ER — payments came out nearly identical. Which would you actually live with?

Waterloo region, Ontario. Buying new, ~$20k down, financing the rest over 60 months.

Context: We’re keeping our AWD Forester as the bad-weather/road-trip backup, so the EV doesn’t have to be the do-everything vehicle. My wife will be the primary driver. Her requirements are AWD and decent cargo space — not looking for a performance car.

Shortlist after a lot of dealer visits:
• 2027 Subaru Uncharted Sport AWD — 77 kWh, 338 hp, ~438 km
• 2026 Mustang Mach-E Premium Extended Range eAWD — 88 kWh, ~370 hp, 483 km NRCan

The odd part: after the various discounts on each side, the monthly payments land within a few dollars of each other. So this isn’t a price decision anymore — it’s a “which one will we still like in year four” decision.

What I’m hoping to hear:
• Real-world Ontario winter range, not spec sheet numbers
• Anything that annoyed you at 6–12 months that you didn’t notice on the test drive

Open to other suggestions.

Home charging: L2 [planned]. Annual driving: ~15000 km, mostly commuting.

Does it get worse?

I get that you want to charge your car but to cut off the only other charger for my charger type is kinda nuts.
