Movies where the director or actor are not the most notable contributor

Typically when a name is attached to a movie it is either the director or an actor. You'd say "it a Spielberg film" or a "Adam Sandler film" and so on. However I've noticed there are rare cases where it's a non director or actor. I've thought of a few examples and was wondering if people could think of any others?

The Nightmare Before Christmas - Tim Burton (story)

Being John Malkovich, Adaptation, Eternal Sunshine..etc - Charlie Kaufman (writer)

Empire Strikes Back, Return of the Jedi - George Lucas (story, producer)

Movies with unusual interpretations or themes.

I've always found the interpretation that the Texas Chainsaw Massacre is about vegetarianism very interesting. Not only is a interpretation that makes sense and reframes the movies, I've also never thought of vegetarianism as a theme. Typically when people discuss movies themes their standard like "the monster represents grief" or "it's a metaphor for oppression", so I was wondering if you guys have other movies that have unique interpretations or themes. Obviously this is subjective, I could say 12 Angry Men is about the Crimean War, but I thought it would be fun to see.

Why is it 'over promise, under deliver'?

This is a rant but so many companies and trade, my own included, consistently day something will be done at a certain date, and it's late. It's alway "yeah that will be done by tomorrow, ready the next day" and it's not done. Then everyone gets pissy about it not being done. It seems like no one will bake in time to estimates in case something goes wrong and no body want to say it will take a week, then have it done in a couple days. When im asked how long it will take me to finish something I always give myself extra time and finish it early, why don't other people do this?

What movie would you choose for directors who don't have any in the collection yet?

Preferably not movies that already have tons of high quality releases.

Some options

Spielberg - Duel

Peter Jackson - Bad Taste

Christopher Guest - Mockumentry Box-set

I have a legitimate question

As a Conservative I've been wondering this for a bit and was hoping to get an answer for dedicate NDPers. Do you think it's better to have a Liberal Majority and the NDP in its current position, versus a Conservative minority with the NDP as official Opposition? Based on the last election it seems like many NDP voters just want not-the-conservatives and NDP votes are only when the Liberals are doing well. But then I hear them saying that the Liberals and Conservative are both bad, which to me should be the view point if you choose to support a 3rd party, but this doesn't seem to match voting patterns. To me it seems like either a) we dont want the Conservatives so we will vote Liberal to stop them, in which case why not just merge with the Liberals and win every election and try to push them more to the left or b) the Conservative and Liberal are to far removed from my worldview so I need the NDP and its equally bad if a Liberal or Conservative are in power. Sorry if this is rambling but im genuinely curious to hear your viewpoint.

Can you explain the basic plot of The Return?

I feel like for the original run and for FWWM I can explain the basic plot, obviously over simplifyingand ignoring the need to have everything and everone explained. The original can basically be described as "Dale Cooper with the help of the Twin Peaks sheriff's department work to uncover the mystery of who kill Laura Palmer, and while doing so uncover multiple town secrets. We eventually discover Laura was killed by her father Leland, who was possessed by the evil spirt BOB." And FWWM can be described as "The last days of Laura Palmers life before she was murdered". But I have trouble doing the same for The Return. I don't know how to succinctly explain the plot and Coopers goal in the season. And I think I impacts my enjoyment of The Return where so many details are being thrown at me I can't see the forrest for trees.

A fun way to watch Nosferatu (1922)

My wife got me a cheap box set of old horror films from a thrift store. We were watching Nosferatu, but the score was very odd stock music, so she had the idea to play the Eggers film soundtrack on a speaker instead. It involves pretty constant switching of songs, but the titles of each track help tell you which one to use and it was alot of fun. I was also wondering what other movies would this be a good idea for.
