Rewatching the Tubular Bells One Hit Wonderland and saw all the comments saying how big of a hit this was everywhere but America. Todd even mentions how this song never really made it big in the states.

Gotta say, as someone who’s grown up in America and listened to a ton of popular music of this era growing up, I had never even heard of this song until the small snipped played in the video. I had to immediately stop the review and hear the song in full. Oh my god. What an amazing song!!!! I love it so much and I wish more people here knew about it.

What other gems like this never made it big in America? What else are y’all hiding over there??????

Love the new song, I’m back with another cool observation:

The first line of the first chorus:

“If your blood pumps and your heart beats,”

If you listen closely with good headphones, the lead vocal take in the left ear starts to say “if your heart” but then corrects to “blood”.

It adds an interesting contrast to the main vocal and also I just love when bands keep mistakes like that in their songs. Reminds you that it’s art made by humans who make errors.

It also makes me wonder how many vocal takes they allowed themselves before moving on! It speaks to the deeper ethos of how they made the album in that way. Basically it’s cool and you’ll never unhear it.
