Not loving rough stone rolling

I’ve heard so much about this book. Critics and historians alike respect it. I knew it would be biased towards the faithful side of things. But as I have started reading it, I am in awe of how much.

Everyone he mentions Fawn Brodie, it comes with a negative connotation such as: “the nonbeliever Fawn…” or “as she was leaving the faith “. Really loaded context to discredit her ?

Or plainly saying to ignore all accounts that reflect negative aspects or as he calls it: distractions to then focus only on the good accounts. I thought good historians don’t do that.

There is a lot inferred and choice if words is intentional. What am I missing? .

This is how it looks to remove your membership from the LDS church as an entire family

Decades in the church. I thought I had all the answers. I was chosen. And then, I realized I was just in a religion like the others that originated in America in the 19th and 20th century. Same patterns, same techniques to keep you in. Whether is good or not… is not true.

I gained autonomy and that is priceless! I can decide without guilt. I can’t begin to explain how much happier I am since we’ve made the decision to stop being active in the church. It only took 2 years to make that step and then another year to remove our names from the church.

I made the step but I was willing to stay in if the spouse decided to keep being TBM. But eventually spouse came along. We live the same life. We still don’t drink. Really the same principles. We are now free to voice our opinion without guilt. Maybe the conditioning is deep and we cannot bring ourselves to indulge in alcohol? Maybe but the truth is that we never wanted to sin or live another life. We left because it is not true. And now I understand how controlled we were. Is hard to explain.

Now I realize my moral values do not match the church’s actions. I don’t have to find reasons to validate my faith. I have my truth and stand up for it.

We think we LDS are special and chosen. Persecution strengthens my conviction … just like every other sect.

Luz del mundo. Religion based out of Mexico. The leader, Naasón Joaquín García claims to be the apostle of Jesu Christ. 5 million members in 50 different countries. This leader is now in prison for abusing children and women. The followers: believe more than ever and all allegations are persecution.

Same can be said of Warren Jeffs. Despite evidence, which followers prefer to ignore, his fundamentalist movement still has a following. All outside is the world, those outside are labeled gentiles. Members still following. All negative is persecution.

Charles Taze Russell. Founder of Jehova witnesses. Had inappropriate encounters with a young girl staying in his household. Wife divorced him for abuse and that relationship although not for the relationship specifically. Claimed to know Greek and was exposed to be lying about his Greek in court. His revelation of the second coming in 1914? Never happened. Sold wheat as miracle wheat and his followers bought it. Still, his followers claim to be the true church. To never doubt his founders and the governing body of such church. In Spain, law has passed to allow people to consider them a destructive religion. Still. Members won’t listen to outsiders, and use persecution to strengthen their faith.

And Joseph Smith? Also had Fanny Alger. Not only he married a 14 year old. Later prophets also married eve younger girls and had children. It’s officially known SEC fined the church. And the list goes on and on. The members? Have been taught to avoid, deny. All labeled persecution from the anti Mormons.

The church is just… one more movement. LDS are not special when you understand the tactics of mental control.

For all those who can leave in peace and redo the life. Good for you!!

For all those who have decided to create content to share how you feel and share what you know… you have felt the calling to be truthful. Good for you and thank you! You are not the disgruntled and unhappy one. Is not that you can’t leave the church alone. You feel the urge to help the world.

And guess what, also other religions have content creators calling out their own religion. Is fascinating to see how similar the experiences are.

Mormon are not special. They are just another yet organization claiming to be speaking for God and using the same tactics the rest do.
