Recurrent lip ulcer always in the same location (3x in 6 months)
I’m a 23yo female and I’ve had a weird issue with my lip for the past ~6 months and I’m trying to figure out what it could be.
A lump/swelling forms in the exact same spot on my lip (has happened 3 times now). It doesn’t start as or look like a cold sore. There’s no tingling, no fluid-filled vesicles, and no obvious “cold sore” stage that I can tell.
Instead, it feels like a single localized swelling or bump, and after a bit it seems to break down/ulcerate in that same spot. It then takes about 1–3 weeks to heal depending on the episode.
The first time lasted around 2-3 weeks, mostly due to me obsessing over it and constantly picking at it with my teeth. The second time lasted 1-2 weeks. I tried my best to leave it be but it’s hard when it’s right where my front tooth touches when I smile.
I now feel it coming on again since it’s easy to feel the swelling. I really don’t think it’s a cold sore but I have no idea what it could possibly be.
