Here's an edition of "guess the cheat". Users like these could be slowing your ladder climbs. However, thanks to my chat game, I actually forced my cheating opponent to unwillingly declare themselves as the loser of the game despite grabbing the elo points.

My 10min rapid rating: 1300 chesscom and 1650 on lichess.

I already strongly suspected he was cheating during the game itself, but the game analysis fully confirmed it. I've reported him for cheating, and im not sharing usernames, this is simply a case study in how a cheater will talk about how innocent they are, while they are grabbing top engine moves... Its quite comical, when I see the idea his engine was going for, but he doesnt see it, or doesnt play it in order to look more like a human who doesnt always play the top 1 move 😆

Here is the chat: First message i posted at start of game (I post it start of every game, for obvious reasons), and only started writing the rest when it was obvious (to me) that he was an assisted player. He just took too much time on easily convertible position after playing like Magnus Carlsen for a bunch of moves.

1. Me: If anyone cheats in any way, they declare themselves the loser, regardless of the result. Every dishonest move is an admission of inadequacy

3. Him: Since they can't do it, they're just pooping lol.

Take control back against cheaters. This is how you make sure the cheater doesn't get full satisfaction from his fake win, after realising you are aware that he is a weak player using assistance.

The whole allure to cheating, is to roleplay as someone better, to make your opponent believe you are simply THAT good. Using strong anti cheat chat gsme completely shatters the roleplay they are going for, it ruins their immersion as a "great player".

I love winning against cheaters like that. Its more satisfying than seeing +8 on my screen.

I am black in both games and won both on time.

Yes, of course they are not playing top engine moves. But I can identify bot play when I see it. Also the time management gives them away. These are my last 2 rapid games on chess.com (10min) both of them against cheaters.

I won both games on time, because the cheaters who are crushing me are apparently unable to make fast moves when they get low on time, I wonder why that would be. They will take time to make the suggested moves even when they have 10 seconds left, because they are probably 200 elo in reality.

The first game shown, I played entirely presupposing he is using an engine, and played so defensively in order to prolong the game and get the flag win, knowing there is no point to try attacks against a robot. It worked. The guy kept a steady slow pace as he ran out of time, in order to follow the engine instructions.

Chesscom is full of these specimens, and this is why climbing the ladder is harder than ever. You are playing against bots, people, and bots even at lower level do significantly less blunders and don't allow you to play normal chess. Also you need to use different strategy against bots, so when they pretend they are human, it makes it much harder to beat the bot.
