Bendigo Tramways and Bendigo Heritage proposal for a new tram line
Not Melbourne, but still probably the most relevant place for this.
They suggest reallocating one traffic lane from Mitchell Street and View Street to a new tram route. Confusingly, they suggest battery powered trams which I don't think we have ever made or imported to Victoria.
