At the end of the movie she says “Brand”. How did she know that Brand was still alive and out there somewhere?

I apologize for the vent. I am a 17 yr old (M) who drinks everyday. I dont get drunk everyday but only rarely, but i do get a little buzzed everyday. I started this about 4 months ago after being sober from weed for about 8 months. I work at a place with alcohol and I give in to the temptation to drink because of the opportunity. As well, my girlfriend drinks but she doesnt like how much I drink. I would love some advice to back off of it to like only on the weekends or every 2 weeks before I get caught at my job and get fired or seriously hurt my relationships. Any response would be very helpful, thank you.
