Collins’ Double Standard is Showing
If allegations of sexual misconduct are enough to disqualify one Senate candidate in Maine, then the same standard should apply across the board.
Sen. Susan Collins has continued to support Donald Trump even after a jury found him liable for sexually abusing and defaming E. Jean Carroll, resulting in a multi-million-dollar judgment against him. That is a legal finding, not merely an allegation.
If Collins is willing to amplify or turn her head away from unproven accusations against her opponent while standing by someone who has already been found civilly liable in court for sexual abuse, voters have every right to question whether her standard is based on principle or political convenience.
Accountability shouldn't depend on party affiliation.
