Avoid the LIRR tonight if you can

Hey guys, I’m genuinely just trying to help out here. I’m actually a Mets fan but I’m a LIRR locomotive engineer. If you don’t know what that is, we’re the ones that operate the trains. I really don’t want to see any of yous get stuck at citi field tonight, or having to pay for an expensive uber, so I’m just here with a cautionary message

We may go on strike tonight at midnight. I have no way of knowing in advance if we will - but I’ll tell you that I wouldn’t be surprised if we do. They could strike a deal at 11:59 PM tonight but who knows

I’m not here to get into debates or answer questions about the strike, I’m not trying to spread fear, I hope you see this for what it is, one baseball fan trying to help out fellow baseball fans. Although I’m a Mets fan I grew up with alot of Yankee fan cousins and I never had any ill will towards any of you guys.

This could all be for nothing, but I want you to understand if we do go on strike there will be NO LIRR at all. Subway will still be there. But no LIRR. Not even limited service - nothing.

Mods I’m sorry if this isn’t allowed but I’m just genuinely trying to give you guys a heads up.

Avoid the LIRR tonight if possible

I’m a locomotive engineer and we may be going on strike at midnight. I’m not here to get into debates or answer questions. I’m just trying to help my fellow Mets fans not get stranded with no way home. In case you don’t know what a locomotive engineer does - since everybody seems to think that conductors do this - we are the ones that physically operate the trains. We are, as my nephew says, “the choo choo driver”.

If the strike happens, and I have no way of knowing it’ll happen in advance, they could strike a deal at 11:59 PM tonight - there will be NO trains moving. Subway service will be unaffected.

Again I really don’t want to get into it about details, this isn’t the place for that, just trying to send a fair warning to my fellow Mets fans.

Mods I’m sorry if this is not allowed but some of you have known me long enough to know this post is in good faith. The MTA is unlikely to warn people with enough time for you to plan in advance, so that’s why I’m here.
