A long shot from Sweden at giving back someone’s wedding ring

Moi moi dear neighbours!

Long story short: I work at a hotel cleaned out the ”left behind” drawer. Someone has left behind a ring - probably a wedding ring due to a date and a name being ingraved - necklace and earrings.

Unfortunately, I have nothing to go on except the name and the date ingraved in the ring. We usually write notes on the things forgotten in case they call, but it seems the person who worked that day did not.

The name ingraved in the ring is ”Satu” and the date is "4/4/1997". In case you know someone called this who has lost their ring (and you can correctly identify the ring and/or what more was forgotten with it), please contact me! I so desperately want to retrieve it back to its rightful owner 🥲

(We usually do not call guests about forgotten things unless it is something of actual worth. This ring was placed in a toilet bag which we had not opened).

Thank you all in advance! Kiitos!

Question about Iraqi

Hello!

I understand that كان is followed by a verb in the present tense to indicate a past continous meaning, i.e. كنت احكي وياها. However, does the verb ever occur with the prefix "د"? I.e. something like كنت دباوع تلفزيوين?

Åldersgräns Berns?

God morgon folket!

Jag var på Berns Berzelii Park för två veckor och firade en kompis som den dagen fyllde 20 - jag såg dock nu på deras hemsida att de har 23-års gräns? Är det någon som vet vad som gäller? Förstår ingenting, haha.

Jag hade nämligen tänkt gå dit ikväll, men då en av personerna i gruppen är 21 känns det lagom skoj om hon nu helt plötsligt blir nekad.

Tack på förhand!

Question about the dual and اثنين in Iraqi

Hello!

I know that nouns are made dual by the suffix "ـين", e.g.: كتابين - two books.

However, can "اثنين" ever be used to modify a noun? In what cases? Would the noun be singular, dual or plural after this, and would "اثنين" occur before or after the noun? E.g:

  • اثنين كتاب / اثنين كتابين / اثنين كتب (numeral before singular, dual and plural noun)
  • كتاب اثنين / كتابين اثنين / كتب اثنين (numeral after singular, dual and plural noun)

And does the above form always decline for gender, i.e, would a feminine noun always take "ثنتين" or would it be masculine in some cases (like the other cardinal numbers when modifying a noun)?

And what would the definite forms be?

Because I know that in some dialects - Egyptian I think? - "اتنين" can occasionally modify a noun in the plural, e.g. "اتنين سوّاقين".

Thank you so much in advance!

Future tense in Palestinian Arabic

Hello!

In the Qafishe & Rammuny book, the vocabulary lists "RaayiH - going to (future action)", and gives in the dialogue e.g.:

- امتى رايح يخلص المدرسة؟

- رايح اجاوب

- رايحة تجاوبي بالعربي ولّا بالانكليزي؟

However, when googling around, it seems as if all sources mentions the Palestinain dailect using "راح" or "حـ" / "هـ" as a future tense; not the active participle.

So, my question is - is this an older form to form the future tense? Is it nos used anymore? The book is almsot 50 years old so it is possible to be a it outdated.

Thank you.

Tagged questions in Libyan

Hello!

How does Libyan form tagged questions? For example, the sentence "أمس مشيت للبحر قلتلي؟" (from Dickinson's book), does "قلتلي" function as a tagged question, i.e, "right?", "isn't it so?".

Or does it use something else, like other dialects use "مش كده؟" or "مو بلّه؟" or "مش هيك؟" or "صحّ?" etc?

Question about fractions

I have understand that the basic pattern is "(a) share (b) ji (c) total" or "(a) ji (b) total (c) share". However, is the total in the first form inflected for case, since "ji" is a preposition? I seem to have encountered both inflected and uninflected forms, i.e, "sê ji heşt" as well as "sê ji heştan"?

And is there then any difference between the forms "sê ji heşt", "sê ji heştan" and "ji heştan sê"?

Also, is it possible to say "yek ji do" instead of "nîv" and "yek ji çar" instead of "çarêk", or are these separate words always used?

Hallå hallå! Jag och två vänner ska besöka Göteborg nästa helg och vi hade gärna velat gå ut på lördagen! Jag är 24 och de är båda 21. Har ni några rekommendationer?
