Advice on creating bolts and leather for mech

Advice on creating bolts and leather for mech

Hello. Working on a little wooden mech that I want to eventually try and animate. I have two questions.

  1. Any advice on making the bolts around the metal framing pieces? I'm wondering if its best practice to cut the actual frame and deal with the topography or should I create separate bolt heads and copy and paste them over the top? Or some other smarter method?
  2. Same question but for the leather around the waist and feet etc. Should those be separate pieces or is it better to keep items like that all part of the actual frame pieces?

Diy METAR (LA-SD)

Made this guy over the last two weekends fully diy with no online guides. Big bear to the border and out east to borrego valley/palm springs.

Work in genetics research and don’t know much about electronics or coding so I’m pretty stoked it all worked!

Have the usual VFR-LIFR and some extra indicators for wind>25kts, snow, rain, thunder storms, and freezing rain, etc, orange for error/missing data. Updates every 5min.

Used an esp32 with wifi & some programmable LEDs on ws2811 boards. Used claude to code it up and troubleshoot. Once it was all working how I wanted, had my software engineer bro come in and spit shine the code real quick lol.
