THE ULTRATAMER - Mistress of ailments!

THE ULTRATAMER - Mistress of ailments!

Here's the PowerPoint slide to begin with:

Text form explanation and further depth analysis:

The Taming gives increased elemental damage with hits and ailments for each type of elemental ailment on enemy. How do you make most of this?

Normally, you can inflict four types of elemental ailments on an enemy: Shocked, Ignited, Chilled and Frozen. There are however three alternative elemental ailments, namely Brittle, Scorched and Sapped, which are quite limited in accessibility:

  1. You can get Sapped, Scorched or Brittle ground as an Eldritch mod on your rare boots, but that requires you to stand on top of your enemies, which is hardly practical. Animate Guardian can also use such boots, but its movements are significantly less predictable.

  2. Legacy of Fury is a set of unique boots that makes all nearby enemies Scorched, which is nice, but still requires you to be "nearby" to the stuff you shoot. Animate Guardian can use these too, and tanky minion builds like BAMA love it. However, it's less zoom zoom because you can't then have Tailwind boots or Darkray Vectors if you decide to go that way.

  3. Arkhon's Tools is a unique belt that adds a Scorching skitterbot, meaning you can apply chilled, shocked and scorched with them, if the enemy is near enough, at the cost of reserving 35% of your mana. However, then you can't use any actual belt and still only get one extra ailment.

  4. Secrets of Suffering, which is comes small cluster jewel named The Interrogation that disables your normal ailments, but makes you apply all three alternative elemental ailments on a critical strike. That's garbage for this purpose, so it's out.

  5. Unseen Hue is a unique ring that makes Prismatic skills apply Brittle, Scorched or Sapped, but you only get one and you have to use Prismatic Skills. What if you don't wanna? Trash.

  6. Lastly, there's Replica Malachai's Artifice, a ring so nice that it has eight users in Mirage league according to PoE Ninja. Firstly, it will lower all your elemental resistances by 20% and then give you 75-100% cold resistance. The actually interesting part is makes the socketed gems have Secrets of Suffering, so if you socket an attack there, that attack cannot Shock, Chill or Ignite, but it does Brittle, Scorch and Sap on every critical hit. The effect is scaled from the damage that skill deals, meaning the best option is Elemental Hit of the Spectrum. The problem is that you get no supports for it because there's only one socket on the ring... Until now!

In Mirage league, you can get the gem imbued with Manaforged Arrows, which makes it shoot out automatically when you've used your main bow skill enough. Huzzah!

The best way to benefit from this is to get the Wildwood Bloodline Ascendancy that gives you an extra ring slot. Just put the dumb heist ring in the third slot and blast away! You can forego flasks if you were planning to use Screams of the Desiccated, like the Acceleration shrine. You could skip the amulet slot too, but with this setup, Yoke of Suffering makes enemies take up to 70% increased damage, which is pretty nice. Or if you get lucky with a Volatile Vaal Orb, up to 84% increased damage.

A Volatile Vaal Orb could also make your Taming go to 60% increased damage per each elemental ailment, so up to 840% increased damage if you apply everything and mirror the ring with Kalandra's Touch.

This is of course in addition to the inherent benefits of the alternative ailments: Brittle gives flat crit chance, sapped makes enemies deal less damage and scorched lowers their elemental resistances.

I feel like I haven't even exhausted all the possibilities with this interaction, but I will certainly be testing many things and hope this brings someone else joy too!

Mind Stinger - The Best BAMA Quiver*

In Merc league, I became fixated on this special modifier: "Your Blink and Mirror Arrow Clones use your Gloves"

Because lightning BAMA is the best build in the game and I always push it in novel ways, I figured that surely there had to be some great uses for it. We'll be returning to some uses in the end. Here's the finished quiver:

https://preview.redd.it/9qrngsrku20h1.png?width=738&format=png&auto=webp&s=c3f2e3b7456e02db8dd223dfb90d6c87d369bb30

Crafting a quiver with that mod would've been relatively easy, since you could just fracture it. That's actually what I did in the league. The problem then was that I could only have one implicit mod - Crit chance, crit multi, attack speed or projectile speed, which is a somewhat underappreciated modifier but alas. I wanted triple synth.

Here's what you need to do to retrace my steps:

  1. Buy a triple synth bow base that already had 5% increased attack speed (which is maximum for synth quivers) and a high crit chance ("t2" in this case, with the maximum being 40%) or crit multi (maximum is 30%).

  2. Add a Gilded Fossil for style.

  3. Scour it.

  4. Use Orbs of Remembrance until you get 90+ strands.

  5. Get a quiver that has the merc mod as the only prefix and slam an influenced prefix for it, using a Shaper's Exalted Orb, or Elder's, depending on which one is cheaper.

  6. Recombinate the two quivers. 50/50 chance to get a triple synth base with your desired mod. This is much, much, much cheaper than making your own triple synth base from scratch and also you'll get memory strands.

  7. Imprint for safety.

  8. Use a Craicic Chimeral and a Black Morrigan to put a Hinekora's Lock on the item, hovering both Regal and Foulborn Regal orbs.

9A) If you got any resistance mod, use the Harvest bench to turn that resistance into lightning resistance, craft "prefixes cannot be changed" and do a Harvest add-remove for lightning. It can only add lightning damage. If this is high enough tier, craft "Can have three crafted mods" and "Cannot roll attack mods" and slam a Foulborn Exalted Orb. It can then only add a prefix and the prefix can only be bow damage or life, with a roughly 25% chance to get t1 or t2 bow damage.

9B) If you got a high enough tier of Damage With Bows, craft "prefixes cannot be changed" and do a Harvest add-remove for lightning.

10 - optional) Realize only now that your item's level is 85 which means it can't roll t1 bow damage and cry.

  1. If you get high enough tiers of both bow damage and lightning damage, use an Orb of Unravelling that can massively bump up the mod tiers. In my case, t3 bow damage and t5 lightning damage both went up to t2.

  2. Craft prefixes cannot be changed and do a Harvest add/remove for crit.

13A) If you got t1 crit multi, craft "Prefixes cannot be changed" again and do a second Harvest add/remove for crit OR craft "can have three crafted mods" and "prefixes cannot be changed" and hit a Veiled Exalted orb.

13B) If you got t1 crit chance, craft "Prefixes cannot be changed" again and do a second Harvest add/remove for crit.

14A) If you got two t1 crit mods: Craft attack speed, which was too expensive to get with Harvest because it costs lots of yellow juice and competes with projectile speed, which is nice but not worth a whole suffix spot.

14B) If you got t1 crit multi and a veiled mod: If you unveiled attack and cast speed, you can then craft 27% crit chance or 14% crit chance and a chance to gain frenzy charges or 16% crit chance and elemental damage if you've crit recently. Whatever you most like, essentially. I went with the frenzy chance myself, because I love charges. If you unveiled a hybrid crit mod, craft 12% increased attack speed.

Now that the craft is done, what kinds of gloves could you use with the quiver for maximum benefit?

IDEA 1: Abhorrent Interrogation

https://preview.redd.it/hunccdos130h1.png?width=1264&format=png&auto=webp&s=9572a24fb4bebfa09798875f2bb79ac335b379ac

Especially the 5% variant you can get with a Volatile Vaal Orb. It makes it so each hit from your minions has a chance to apply up to 15 stacks of Wither and therefore ramps up to make the enemies take up to 75% increased elemental damage. With enough attack speed, it ramps up fast - faster if your minions have Unholy Might. You might want to craft a different BAMA bow for this though, one with +1 socketed gem levels instead of elemental penetration.

Alternatively you can use the 4% variant with a +0.8% to attack crits corrupt, which is spicy.

IDEA 2: Tombfist

https://preview.redd.it/5qgyh3um230h1.png?width=1594&format=png&auto=webp&s=f8252e4414176ee754860da7117e8d56f0a9f0c9

These gloves give 10% increased attack speed, guaranteed Intimidate (which is tough to get as BAMA) and two abyssal sockets. The two abyssal sockets can be used for a funny interaction, where if you put in two Tecrod's Gazes, the bow clones get 160% increased crit chance, because both jewels give 40% per Murderous jewel affecting you, counting themselves.

IDEA 3: Custom Rares

https://preview.redd.it/0jyshbs5330h1.png?width=1355&format=png&auto=webp&s=34c996548383800bb072596a4009948947eb0b02

This one is a bit harder, but you can use rare gloves too. Here, the Projectile Speed affects how fast you blink and also now with how fast the clones' arrows reach my enemies.Attack speed is always generic, you can put anything cool in the abyssal socket including stuff like 8% attack speed if you've crit recently, a bit of crit multi, flat damages, all sorts of nice stuff.

Secondly, this character has a bow from Settlers League with the enchant "Increases and Reductions to Minion Damage also affect you at 150% of their value". Since my gloves have 59% increased minion damage, wielding the bow makes the minions double tap by gaining an additional 88% increased damage.

There are all sorts of other cool ways to use Eldritch implicits for the clones too, just a pity they can't gain Rage.

---

In any case, this has been a fun craft and maybe in the future if a league goes particularly well, I might craft a superior all t1 version of this quiver and according to PoB gain... 6.9% more DPS. That would be nice.

*RE: "Best BAMA Quiver*": This is the best unless you desperately need the unveiled evasion and energy shield mod, or you are doing the poison variant or if you can't afford to sacrifice any glove mods. Price could also be a prohibiting factor, especially with this higher investment variant.
