Utah Supreme Court Justice resigns • Affair with Redistricting lawyer.

"A Utah state Supreme Court justice has resigned after she was accused of sending inappropriate text messages to a redistricting lawyer whose case she was presiding over. Justice Diana Hagen stepped down Friday after her ex-husband, Tobin Hagen, filed a complaint accusing her of having an affair with the attorney David Reymann. Reymann had been arguing a congressional redistricting case before the Utah Supreme Court—"

Republican Justices are LITERALLY in bed with the Republican redistricting efforts!!!

Both Sarah and JVL are Right; Protest & Retribution

Sarah Longwell is correct that people need to be out in the streets. Votes are being throw in the trash and Republicans are erasing decades worth of gains earned through traditional Constitutional processes. Protests do create disruptions and can move public sentiment. Large enough protests in the South would force some amount of scaling back of Republicans plans. It wouldn't stop Republicans outright but every inch counts when evil is on the march.

JVL is correct that if Democrats regain majorities, they must inflict some pain on Red States for what they are doing. Because every election won't be a wave election. While Democrats might be able to ride anti Trump sentiment to a 4 point popular vote victory in 2026 and overcoming the gerrymandering this year, what happens during the 2030 mid-term? Unless some of this crap gets scaled back Republicans will receive long term benefits.

What should activists focus on Today?

What should Democrats focus on if/when they are back in Power?

In the last year the Deputy Director of the FBI resigned and the Sec of DHS Kristy Noem were fired. Kash Patel has remained as Director of the FBI but is under qualified for the position. Patel was never an FBI agent and has only worked in law enforcement via politically appointed positions. Kristy Noem's replacement as Sec of DHS has no law enforcement background and his highest level of education is an Associates Degree.

In the coming days I suspect Trump supporters will have a lot to say about assassination attempts on Trump. However, if one is actually concerned for Trump's safety shouldn't they demand competence from the people in charge of the Domestic security agencies responsible for protecting Trump?
