Question: First time red hair dye
Hi! I’ve gotten highlights before and gone from a light brown to a very dark brown, but I just went red for the first time 1 week ago.
I know some of the hair rules from getting my hair colored in the past, so I waited approx 60 hours to shower (couldn’t last longer, my hair is naturally very greasy), and have managed to wash my hair not 4x since the initial coloring. I will say I’ve used warm water because I was too wimpy for a cold shower, but I avoided anything scalding hot.
My roots are still a very bright orange, but everything else has almost entirely washed out and I’m almost back to my natural color. I know red doesn’t last long, and that certain things (i.e. hair color, previous dye) can cause it not to stick, but I’m just really confused about this one? It’s been about 18 months since I’ve had about any highlights/bleaching to my hair. Some of the hair at towards the end might have been previously bleached; however, it doesn’t line up with the fairly abrupt transition point of orange hair / brown hair at all. I’m wondering if something went wrong, or if it just has something to do with my natural hair. Is this something I should talk with my hair girl about? Or is this normal for first time red dye
