Care to share your thoughts/opinions on Stellar Reactions being strong but restrictive?

So as some of you know, Cryo is a difficult element when it comes to flexibility/reaction synergy, and Hoyo made the choice to keep Cryo "rigid" in Snezhnaya. (Please don't kill me for the ice pun lol)

Lunar Reactions had a higher investment cost, but had a massive range of viable team options due to the flexibility of Hydro. Hexerei was the same deal, but you used character pairings instead of an element. If you knew how to teambuild/invest properly, you could make a lunar or hex team work without being a wheelchair and etc.

Overall, Traveler had a huge number of teams in Nod Krai, and you just needed a bit of knowledge.

Stellar Reactions have a lower investment cost, but are closer to the design philosophy of "You need to build XYZ in this strict way". At the moment, outside of a few special exceptions, Stellar Teams don't play well with others outside of the niche and essentially punish you for doing so.

This is such an interesting topic to me so I really hope a few people can reply. Cryo MC/Stellar Reactions hit huge numbers but they only play well with a select few. Do you like this arrangement? Or would you trade a bit of the raw power in exchange for Stellar becoming more flexible?

(An example of flexibility would be adding Pyro to the Polestar Field DMG% gimmick, and having melt reactions inside a polestar field ignore defense. Then you could easily run something like Pyro/Electro/Cryo/Cryo.)

Here's the BIG list of final reminders you should be aware about before Snezhnaya!

THE BIG LIST

[Reminder 1: Farm Heart of the Furnace for Traveler in 7.0]

The Support set called "Heart of the Furnace" (12% ATK, 50% Teamwide Stellar DMG Bonus) is extremely valuable for both Onfield (Conduct) and Off-field (Swirl) Traveler. This is because the set gives Traveler unrivaled flexibility when it comes to teambuilding.

Deepshadow (Conduct Set) locks Traveler to one archetype, which can be a hindrance in endgame modes. Ideally for endgame, you want to have two complete sets on standby. One copy of Furnace for flexibility purposes, and one copy of Deepshadow. Choose whichever set you want for maining, but always have the other set ready as a backup.

In addition, a nice thing about running Furnace on Traveler is that you reduce your chance of overcapping crit rate (Traveler gets a ridiculous amount of crit rate in 7.0). Furnace's lack of crit rate makes artifact farming much easier.

[Reminder 2: Cryo Traveler CANNOT activate the DPS Stellar Swirl set. Don't waste resources on it for them.]

Only anemo characters can trigger Scarlet Proof.

[Reminder 3: Odette and Odette Constellations.]

Odette is the Columbina of Stellar Reactions, and instead of giving a 7% base multiplier to both Stellar-Swirl and Stellar-Conduct, she gives 14% (the same % as a specialized lunar character like Ineffa). Lunar characters hit hard due to this 14% base increase. In a nutshell, her entire kit is her elemental skill and she spawns a turret that deals AOE cryo damage every two seconds. Tap her skill twice for maximum benefit.

In addition, Odette's Ascension gimmick is that she gives a teamwide 60% "additive" dmg bonus to Stellar Swirl/Conduct after she spawns her turret and swaps out. Or in short, she gives a free 4-pc Aubade of Morningstar to characters who use Stellar Swirl or Stellar Conduct. For newcomers, Aubade is among the strongest additive buffs in the game.

Her C1 increases the damage of her turret, and it allows her to give up to 90% Stellar DMG bonus for Swirl/Conduct. Her C2 allows her to give a 42% Attack buff. Also, it allows her to shred Cryo, Electro, and Anemo Resistance by 20% with almost permanent uptime.

For newcomers, a 42% attack buff is very strong and its equivalent to the top tier card you see when doing Spiral Abyss. A permanent 20% Resistance shred is very good. It's equivalent to a 17% DPS boost against an enemy with standard resistances.

Pull C2 Odette if you want to sleepwalk through this entire patch. C0 is good for stellar content, and C1 is a good stopping point if you want a mix between power and currency spending.

[Reminder 4: CMC/Yae/Odette/Qiqi is a 3-Way Carry team, CMC/Alyosha/Odette/Qiqi is a hypercarry team]

Keep in mind that Yae deals around the same amount of damage as CMC when properly built, especially with a 5-star catalyst. I personally love multi-carry teams, but some people are looking to play CMC on a team where they have a huge portion of the damage share.

[Reminder 5: CMC/Fischl/Alyosha/Qiqi (or Diona/Beidou) is the F2P route if you're super unlucky.]

This comp will clear Patch 1 Abyss, so don't feel too bad if you have to run without the better units like Yae or Odette. No one talks about what to do if you're a player who lacks them, so I thought I'd stick it here. You're not going to clear fearless, but you can handle easier content that contains direct shilling.

[Reminder 6: "Revenge of the Bineffa" is a stellar conduct option if you're stuck on a DPS check.]

Cryo MC/Alyosha/Columbina/Ineffa is calced at 120k+ DPS if built properly. (Assume 90k-100k for casual players) It's a solid fallback option if you pulled in Nod Krai and your Stellar stuff isn't quite ready yet.

And to no one's surprise, Cryo MC/C1 Yae/Columbina/Ineffa has enough power to sleepwalk through most challenges.

In general, if you want to synergize with Columbina/Ineffa you place an electro or anemo in the flex slot where Alyosha is. Also, keep in mind that you can't run double cryo against normal enemies if you want to use bineffa.

[Reminder 7: For now, most of the F2P Craftable Weapons for Snezhnaya are very awkward for Stellar Swirl.]

In a nutshell, most of the weapons require the holder to trigger a stellar reaction. However, this is different from dealing direct Stellar Swirl Damage. You see, cryo characters can't trigger Stellar Swirl as a true reaction and only Anemo units can.

Also, on a note about anemo characters, Mizuki scales with EM and the Stellar Swirl catalyst heavily favors ATK. So yeah, that's a bit of a strange conundrum for her.

Final Summary of what Theorycrafters are saying about Cryo MC's strength next patch.

Hey guys, here's the final general consensus from people like Flip, Jello, TGS, Anddad, Zajeff, GxG Noir, and etc.

1.. C2 Power Level for Stellar Conduct:

Overall, Cryo Traveler is expected to be around the level of Flins when running a premium team (150k) in early patches. However, remember that "Excel Sheet DPS" tends to be about 30-40% lower for a casual player. That means most players running premium will fall between 90k and 150k early on. The Premium team for CMC is CMC/Yae/QiQi/Odette.

Unfortunately, teams like CMC/Beidou/Diona/Alyosha won't come close to performing this well. HOWEVER, for the early patches you won't need full premium to clear Abyss and Menacing Stygian.

2.. CMC isn't a Hypercarry on their Premium Stellar-Conduct Team. Premium Conduct is a 3-Way Carry team when you have C1 Yae.:

The damage ratio is similar to the Overvape team that involves PMC/Durin/Ineffa/Xingqiu (in this comp, PMC/Durin/Ineffa each have a damage share that falls between 25%-35% of the total damage and Xingqiu does a tiny bit.).

In the Conduct Comp, Yae (C0 or C1) is expected to deal similar damage to Cryo MC, and Odette does a little less than those two. QiQi doesn't deal anything significant. If you want to increase Traveler's damage ratio, and have them feel more like a "Carry" than a "Team Player", you could perhaps run something akin to CMC/Alyosha/QiQi/Odette. This should push Traveler to dealing at least 62-65% of the team's damage.

Personally, I feel like this information is relevant because a strong portion of the community wants to play Hypercarry/Main DPS instead of 3-Way Carry. I love 3-Way Carry but not everyone does.

3.. But ironically, Mizuki/Cryo MC/Odette is also 3-way carry at C0 Mizuki.*

Nothing much to say about Stellar Swirl besides the fact that Mizuki/Cryo MC/Odette/Sucrose in 7.0 is about 120k DPS on sheet, and everyone besides Sucrose deals about 1/3rd of the team's damage. At C1 and C2 Mizuki, the ratio shifts and she becomes the main damage dealer of the team.

Overall, those are the relevant points when it comes to the Cryo MC's strength in 7.0.

A reminder to not despair if you didn't pull / weren't able to get Yae.

I've seen a fair amount of people disheartened due to missing out on Yae, and a lot of people mistakenly believe she's a "new" Ineffa. I just wanted to clarify a few things.

To put things bluntly, putting Yae and Ineffa in the same sentence is almost a joke lol. One character is a solid sub-dps, and the other is the queen of the game and can run Lunar-Charged, Stellar-Conduct, Hyperbloom 2.0, and Overvape, and can pull 100k+ DPS in each archetype with proper investment and composition.

Missing out on Yae isn't the same as skipping Ineffa so be kind to yourself and relax. All it means is that you aren't clearing Dire in 7.0, and 99% of the playerbase doesn't even attempt Dire.

If you missed out on Yae, aim for Odette in Version 7.0. C0 Odette is going to clear the standard endgame. C1 gives +90% Stellar Damage Bonus and increases the damage of her turret-like summon. C2 Odette gives a 42% Attack Buff and shreds Anemo, Cryo, and Electro by 20%. C2 Odette pumps out similar damage as C1 Yae, but you get far more buffs + resistance shred.

Stop at C1 if you want to strike a balance between cozy endgame and saving funds. Stop at C2 if you want to open yourself up to a ton of team flexibility in the future.

If you can't get Odette, then pull Ineffa. If you're super new at the game and haven't made it past Floor 11 of Spiral Abyss, you pull Ineffa.

Overall, I hope this post soothes a few concerns. Is Yae a strong unit for stellar-conduct? Yes. Is she irreplaceable? Only if you care about clearing Dire difficulty in Stygian. Is she Ineffa? Yae doesn't even come close to the value of that unit.

I ran some calcs to test the impact of the 7.0 signature on Traveler's personal damage!

Disclaimer: Please remember that calcs are estimates and all estimates should be taken with a grain of salt. Also, my personal quirk is that I only calc with normal attack spam and bursts. No charge attacks.

Hey guys, here are my Pyro Traveler's offensive Stats:

Attack:2445

Crit Rate: 90

Crit Damage: 190

Artifact Set: Cinder City

Weapon: Athame Artis (Signature is a reskin of Athame and shares the same base stats. So I added the signature's perks into my calcs.)

Due to my artifact set and stat distribution, my build is basically the same as running good crit build (90CR , 200CD) but having a strong support buff running with 100% uptime. TLDR for people who aren't math nerds: our test subject is solid.

Overall, I got a 14.00% to 19.00% team dps increase after factoring in buffs from the signature. The most typical result was that I gained 18,294 DPS. 109,811 (Starting point) 124,598 (End point).

On average, my Traveler's personal damage increased by 40% with the signature (2,213,596 to 3,100,510). Statistically speaking, this doesn't mean that the signature grants a 40% damage boost to MC, but it means that Traveler has the potential to increase their damage by 40% or more with the signature weapon at max refine.

Not many people are calcing the sword's impact on Traveler alone, they're only doing Stellar theorycrafting, so I hope this gives people an idea of what the sword's potential impact could be.

"How does Lunar/Stellar Damage actually work? I know it ignores Defense but what does that actually do?" - If you ever asked this question this post is for you!

In Genshin, enemies basically have an extra layer of armor (called Defense) that reduces all damage. The armor's strength depends on the player's level. When the player and enemy are at equal levels, all incoming damage is reduced by 50% for the enemy.

When the player is higher level than the enemy, the damage reduction is slightly reduced. However, the reduction is so minor that we might as well pretend its still 50%. When the player has a lower level than the enemy, the enemy gains increased damage resistance.

Stellar and Lunar Damage bypass the 50% nerf completely. They get to skip the Defense minigame and only have to deal with the Elemental Resistance check.

(If this is confusing, imagine that every enemy wears two armored vests. Lunar/Stellar only has to deal with one vest.)

In addition, stellar/lunar damage that comes from character talents (also called "direct" S/L damage) has a hidden 3x damage multiplier. So in a nutshell, direct S/L damage gets multiplied by 3 after buffs are accounted for, and it still ignores defense.

For newcomers, if this is still a bit overwhelming for you, just look at the concept like this. All Stellar/Lunar DMG is armor-piercing. If a character talent says one of the following, it means the talent has a 3x multiplier:

This DMG is Considered Lunar-Charged DMG

This DMG is Considered Lunar-Bloom DMG

This DMG is Considered Lunar-Crystallized DMG

This DMG is Considered Stellar-Conduct DMG

This DMG is Considered Stellar-Swirl DMG

Finally, for more advanced players, lets talk about indirect/general reaction damage. An example of that would be Varesa triggering Lunar-Charged with a slam. A huge mistake that people make with Lunar-Charged, Lunar-Crystallize, and Stellar-Swirl, is not understanding this rule of thumb for maxing out indirect damage.

Look at the strongest crit-focused character on a team. Make sure they have at least a Melt/Vape level of EM investment (100-300) through artifacts or buffs. Then make sure they have 80+ Crit Rate and 175+ Crit Damage. 99% of the time you'll max out indirect damage. TLDR: Build the strongest crit character as normal but make sure they have at least 100-300 EM. Add more EM if their talents actually scale with it like Nefer.

I hope this post gives you some new knowledge to work with!

Quick Energy Analysis for Dendro MC and the new Sword.

Hey guys, I ran some heavy testing/calcs and I believe we'll finally be able to switch from the two GOATs (R5 Sacrificial Sword/R5 Favonious) to Exaiphanes/Starforged.

In a nutshell, the R5 version of Starforged reduces the energy cost of DMC's burst from 80 to 65 in a Constellation 2 rotation, and in addition, we'll be getting particles on top of that.

That means we should be able to cut our Energy Recharge level (typically 250-270% in a solo dendro comp) down to 200-210%. Double dendro would need 150-170%. If you min-maxed Deepwood by now you should already be set for the thresholds.

[Quick Note for Newcomers: DMC's strongest non-wheelchair team is a lunar-charged hyperbloom hybrid with Ineffa/Xingqiu/Non-Dendro, and that's why a solo dendro metric was mentioned earlier].

See you in Snez!

SO, which Stellar artifact set will you be running on Cryo MC?

Suppport/Driver Set:

2-Piece: ATK +18%.

4-Piece: When the equipping character triggers Stellar-Conduct or Stellar-Swirl, or directly deals damage from either reaction, they gain 12% ATK and grant nearby party members a 50% DMG Bonus to Stellar-Conduct and Stellar-Swirl for 12s. This effect is unique and does not stack from multiple sets. It can also be triggered while the character is off-field.

Swirl Main DPS set

2-Piece: ATK +18%.

4-Piece: After the equipping character triggers Stellar-Swirl, they gain 16% CRIT Rate and 40% increased Stellar-Swirl DMG for 10s.

Conduct Main DPS set

2-Piece: ATK +18%.

4-Piece: After the equipping character triggers Stellar-Conduct, they gain 16% CRIT Rate and 40% increased Stellar-Conduct DMG for 10s.

I tend to go very hard on artifact grinding, **so I'll be running the support/driver set for on-field Cryo MC and aiming for min-max values**. I'll make up the extra crit rate from the DPS set through artifact rolls and the signature weapon/Athame Arts.

[For Newcomers: What's a Driver?]: *A driver is an on-field dps/support hybrid who enables off-field characters. For example, if Pyro MC is running Hero of Cinder City, and Escoffier is off-field, PMC gives a teamwide 40% Pyro-Cryo DMG bonus whenever they react. A min-maxed Driver sacrifices a tiny bit of personal damage in exchange for a huge team DPS boost.*

Since Driver MC gives a 50% DMG bonus to both Stellar Conduct and Stellar Swirl, they bring a ton of flexibility to the table while not being locked to an archetype. This is great for Abyss and Stygian, and I feel like 16% crit rate (from the DPS sets) isn't worth giving up the freedom of choice. Cryo MC won't be as strong as limited Stellar units, so you should capitalize on flexibility.

In addition, we're probably going to get a Stellar version of Aubade of Morningstar (the off-field lunar set) and the off-field units will want to run that. Also, I typically build my teams with a flex slot in mind, so having Cryo MC on the support/driver set will ease teambuilding even more.

Since there's a 99.9% chance that Cryo Traveler will have standard ICD, we can use Skirk to preview the Superconduct rate on a Stellar team where CMC is driving Dark Durin.

Lunar Overvape is kinda funny here since it's like a depression cloud over her head lol.

u/99-Coins — 2 months ago

So...we need to talk about Chevreuse and Overload.

So I see a lot of people try to run PMC on pure Overload, which is definitely a solid archetype. But I think a lot of people misunderstand a few things about Chevreuse's gimmick, and then they question why they struggle to break 50k-65k. But we first we need to talk about Vaporize.

Vaporize is a 1.5x multiplier, and to keep things simple, a non-vape pyro attack needs about 125% Pyro DMG Bonus in order to surpass a vaporized pyro hit with a 46.6% Pyro DMG Bonus. (If all other stats are the same). Xingqiu, Yelan, or Double Hydro, is basically a foolproof way to assure that a Pyro character can vape every eligible hit.

If a vape team has big buffs, and consistent resistance shred, it'll probably outperform Chevreuse. Why? Because pyro characters on Chev teams don't get a 1.5x true dmg multiplier for free. In addition, Pyro characters are scaled for Vape/Melt, and they're created with assumption that you'll be using those reactions.

Electro units on the other hand, are not built with vaporize or melt in mind. Varessa, Chlorinde, Raiden, and etc, all have unrivaled success on Overload because their numbers were never tuned for multiplying reactions. This isn't to say that pyro characters perform poorly on Overload, it's just that Overload isn't the top pick for most pyro carries.

Anyway, the main point of this post isn't to tell you not to use Chev. It's to inform you how Chev works on the math side, so that you have more knowledge in your teambuilding bank. Chev raises most Pyro characters to the level of a B/B- Vape Team, but then you have to figure out how to surpass that level.

That's why a lot of Chev PMC teams struggle to break 50-65k, while Lunar Overvape and Hex Overvape can reach 75-95k fairly simply once you know what you're doing. (Lunar = PMC/Durin/Ineffa/Xingqiu) (Hex = PMC/Durin/Fischl/Xingqiu). There are also other overvape variants that achieve the same thing.

Again, Chev Overload CAN reach stuff like 75k+, it's just that Chev's Team formula is (Buffs + Res Shred + Characters = DPS) while a Vape team's formula is the same except they get a 1.5x multiplier on every eligible hit.

All in all, this is just an informative post. I want folks to avoid the situation where they spend many pulls on C6 Chevreuse, and then end up depressed when she doesn't outdamage a particular vaporize comp lol. (Note: this happened to a friend of mine)

Chev isn't better or worse than vape. She's a different route, and a lot of people build PMC teams assuming that Chev is "better" when she's in fact "different."
