9 Flip Launcher — new update, and I’d love to hear your feedback

Over the last few days, I received a lot of useful feedback from you. Some of it was feature requests, some of it was bug reports and some of it was honest criticism.

So I tried to turn those requests into real improvements in the latest version.

What’s new:

  • Samsung Dual App icons are now supported
  • Favorite apps, also known as pinned apps, are easier to manage
  • You can now create, remove, and manage app groups
  • You can show or hide groups from Group Manager
  • DeX action has been added to Control Center (Z Flip 7+)
  • The Quick Menu action bar can now be placed at the top or bottom

I also removed the old Group / Flat layout option because many people found it confusing. Now, app groups can be managed more directly by long-pressing an app or a group.

A small note about Widget Launcher: it is still technically limited, especially for long-press actions and animations. For now, I’m using it mainly to mirror the Quick Launcher layout as closely as possible.

Next, I’m planning to work on:

  • Search app
  • Dragging / reordering app icons
  • More improvements based on your feedback

Software is never perfect. Bugs, fixes, and updates are part of how an app grows. So if you have a request, a bug report, or even a complaint, please feel free to share it.

I’ll keep listening, sorting the requests, and improving 9 Flip Launcher step by step.
If possible, please share how you use it or post your setup. I’d love to see it. Thank you!

Thank you for helping shape the app.

Two ways to set a live/video wallpaper on your Z Flip cover screen.

Samsung already has a built-in way, which is nice, but you usually need to unfold the phone to set it up.

I also added this to 9 Flip Launcher (Available on Google Play). It can pick longer videos, GIF/video quality looks better on the cover screen, and you don’t need to open the inner screen.

I’m curious — do you prefer a clean minimal cover screen, or something more animated and fun?

Small update from 9 Flip Laucher, writing this a bit quickly.

And new update:

I added a Lifetime Premium option, for people who asked for a one-time purchase.

Also fixed a few things:
• app drawer should show all apps now
• Flat / Grouped mode should stop resetting
• Recent Apps swipe should be easier to hit

The next main thing I’m working on is clearer pin / favorite apps inside the launcher.

I’ve also collected the other requests from the previous thread/tickets, and I’m going through them one by one. Some things need more research, especially Samsung/cover-screen specific stuff.

I’m still taking requests and feedback here. If some comments are duplicated, no worries, I’ll filter them myself. Feel free to discuss freely.

Thanks

I built a cover screen launcher for Samsung Galaxy Z Flip — now available on Google Play

Hi everyone, I’m the developer of 9 Flip Launcher, a cover-screen launcher for Samsung Galaxy Z Flip devices ( 5, 6, 7, 8...).

Part of the reason I started building this is that the outer screen is already a really capable little display, and I wanted to make it even more useful. It also became more personal for me after the inner screen on one of my own Z Flip devices broke. In the video, I’m actually using that broken phone, and the cover screen is still the part that keeps it useful.

Feel more like a natural part of One UI: familiar, practical, and not like a separate hacked-on experience. You do not need root, ADB, Shizuku, or any complicated setup. The goal is to make it usable with normal Android permissions and a straightforward setup flow.

Some of the things it can do:

  • Widget Launcher: similar in spirit to Good Lock’s cover launcher, but 9 Flip can automatically pick up newly installed apps instead of making you add everything manually. You can also group apps, either once or continuously with automatic grouping.
  • Bottom swipe for Recent Apps: swipe from the bottom of the cover screen to open recent apps.
  • Floating Menu: swipe to open a cover-screen menu with a mini control center, brightness and volume controls, media controls, shortcuts to settings, and a notification page.
  • Cover notifications: open supported notifications directly from the cover screen.
  • Video and GIF cover wallpapers: set dynamic cover wallpapers using video or GIF, with quality aimed to be close to Samsung’s default experience.
  • Manual rotate: rotate the cover screen and lock the rotation when needed.
  • AssistiveTouch mode: useful if you use a thick case and edge swipes are harder. You can also personalize the AssistiveTouch button, including with GIF/image styles.

There are more features in the app, but I’d rather people discover them naturally than turn this into a giant feature list.

A few notes:

  • No root, no ADB, or no Shizuku required
  • Simple setup with normal Android permissions
  • Designed to feel close to One UI
  • No ads
  • No personal user data collection
  • No selling or sharing user data
  • Free to try, with Premium for some advanced features
  • Permissions are explained clearly before they are needed

If you use a Galaxy Z Flip, I’d really appreciate feedback, especially on real daily use: launching apps, opening notifications, media controls, wallpapers, rotation, and whether the setup feels simple enough.

I won’t include a store link here to respect the subreddit rules, but the app can be found by searching "9 Flip Launcher" or “9 Flip Launcher for Z Flip”. I’m mainly looking for feedback from real Z Flip users.

If you try it, I’d really appreciate honest feedback. Happy to answer questions here.

P.S. I used AI to help translate this post into English so I could better share my ideas and this project. I hope you enjoyed reading it.
