Got Scammed by Verified’s Manipulative “Free Trial” — Lost ₹18,900

Meta just pulled the most manipulative subscription UI nonsense on me, and I actually have screen recording proof of it.

I was shown a “1 month free” Meta Verified trial. The banner/video clearly made it look like first month free, then ₹18,900 from the second month onwards.

After clicking “Start Free Month,” it redirected to Google Play showing the ₹18,900/month plan. I assumed it was simply setting up autopay for after the free trial because that’s how literally every free trial works.

Instead, Meta/Google Play instantly charged ₹18,900 on day one.

I requested refunds from both Google Play and Meta. Both rejected it.

The worst part is I have video proof showing how misleading the flow is. This genuinely feels like a dark pattern UI designed to confuse users into accidental purchases.

₹18,900 is not a small accidental tap.

At this point it honestly feels like Meta creates one problem, then sells you another solution through manipulative flows.

I woke up and my Instagram account was suspended. No warning, no clear reason.

I’ve been trying to fix it through Meta support using my other (verified) account. Raised multiple tickets. Every reply is the same copy-paste: “we’re working on it.” No actual update, no timeline.

It’s been over 24 hours and still nothing.

Has anyone dealt with this and actually got their account back? What did you do differently that worked?
