Every time I go on the app or send a msg it flashes up saying motivations are off

Instagram used to be my favorite social media but now it is slowly becoming TikTok to the point even the Discovery page turned into infinity doomscrolling of content I'm not even interested in, I miss when reels was optional, I miss seeing cool pictures that actually matched my interests, and let's be real, this rectangular layout in the profiles is so ass 😭

Forgot to mention that many people are reporting explicit nudity in the app, moderation so bad

Edit: sorry I just noticed how stupid the title is, I was writing this in a hot car so I was having a hard time thinking, I know no one would boycott Instagram

Okay great so the photos of me as a baby in the bath tub on my moms phone are essentially in the hands of a social media company. Because that’s a totally normal thing to do. Or sex tapes of you and your significant other.

Majority of people think “grant full access” means read only. Meaning the app isn’t uploading them more so the app has the ability to make a selection when you go to make a post. Teenagers have iPhones and elderly people. You think it’s their responsibility to do a whole investigation or take a computer science course to realize granting an app permission entails all this? I feel like these companies need to be held liable this is deceptive practices. Wording matters. Every time you grant an app access to photo library there needs to be a pop up saying exactly what that particular app is doing. Absolutely insane

Only noticed this today and I'm pretty sure neither instance was a block and unblock.

One of them was still following me and I didn't later see a notification to say he followed me again so I can't imagine it would have been.

The other one I don't suspect was a block and unblock because when I did that to someone else earlier this year her comment and my reply to her comment were removed from my post(granted for whatever reason the number shows up) however in this case my comment and her reply to my comment is still on this other girl's post.

The only thing these two situations have in common is that I followed their accounts in the same physical location so it might be a reception thing, but idk...

Honestly too awkward to address this directly idk what to say if she does ask about it...

okay has this happened to anyone before? I need someone to explain this because it keeps happening and i genuinely don’t understand how 😭
there are a few accounts i’ve checked that are PUBLIC. i don’t follow them, i don’t like anything, i don’t interact with their posts, and im specifically talking about times when they don’t even have a story posted. so there should literally be nothing showing them that i was on their profile. i’ll randomly click on their account, look at their profile/posts and leave. then i’ll check again later that day or the next day and suddenly they’ve made their accounts private.
the weirdest part is that some of them eventually go public again after a few weeks. i won’t look at them for a while, then one day i’ll check their profile again while they’re public and somehow they go private again shortly afterward. this has happened enough times with different accounts that it’s starting to freak me out. my friend keeps telling me it’s a coincidence, but HOW is it repeatedly happening right after i look at their profiles?? does Instagram somehow suggest your account to someone after you search for or visit their profile? like do i suddenly show up in their suggested accounts or somewhere else that could make them realize i looked at them? i know Instagram supposedly doesn’t have a “who viewed your profile” feature, and again this is such a strange thing.. has anyone else noticed this?? because once is a coincidence. twice, whatever. but going public → i look → private → weeks later public again → i look again → private again like wth
