I want them to just pick a control scheme *and stick with it for all future games*.

Sprint, open menu, open map, activate ride, open dex, camera, emote, interact, target, send out Pokémon.

These are all controls that a lot of modern Pokémon games use or require. There is absolutely no reason that any of them should change between games going forward. Choose the buttons that logically map to them (interact is always A, sprint is always click thumbstick etc) and just STOP CHANGING THEM EVERY GAME. It feels genuinely awful having to remember exactly which button opens the map depending on the game I'm playing.
