Showcasing the new Heng Dao VFX with a cinematic no HUD fight on Guo Xin

The highly anticipated Heng Dao VFX is here and to show it off I decided to do another no HUD cinematic fight on the Gigachad himself Guo Xin. This is still one of my top 3 bosses in the game and I figured I’d come back to him since is tied for the most fun boss to use Heng Blade on next to Veiled Lady. I watched this back a few times and as far as I can see I didn’t take a single hit either so this would also mark my second no hit on him and the first with Heng Blade!

Also for anyone curious I got this VFX with a free Harmonic Code I’d been saving. During the Nine Tails draw a few months back I got lucky enough to get the outfit which I then exchanged for 2 cores. I spent one of them on the Mo Blade VFX and the second one here for Heng Blade. I’ll probably use my next free one for the Gauntlet VFX whenever it releases. For me personally I think weapon effects are a lot more valuable than the premium outfits.

Just saw this appear today before opening the game! 3 lingering melodies, 3 pillow pills, 450 echo jade coins and attuning stones

And is geniunely harder than a lot of this games main bosses, at least on Legend lol. Really sick fight though so I figured I’d turn the HUD off and fight him with only Heng Blade

I have spent hours on this boss and this is something I’ve noticed.

To give some more background Snowplum Requiem has 5 HP gates and it takes breaking her Qi bar and executing her to make it to the next one. When she gets to her second HP gate the flute girl will usually do a long combo where she disappears, does a flurry of attacks then rises in the air with a series of attacks that ends in a pink AoE. The sequence for this attack is entirely scripted.

Through extensive fights with the boss I’ve found that if she doesn’t use this attack before she would naturally stagger for the second time, not only will she not use the attack for the rest of the fight, but her Qi bar will never deplete until the guy in the background does an attack as shown here.

My assumption is that this attack is a mandatory flag to bring her into the next “phase”. You don’t have to parry it fully, she just has to use it. If you would naturally deplete her Qi before she does the attack I mentioned above she cannot be staggered and the natural HP gates she has will be bypassed. It’s an incredibly strange interaction so I just wanted to share this here

This is an example of the latter and it’s happened on multiple occasions when practicing on trials. Parrying the final red attack is supposed to end the fight even if you don’t parry everything before but I’ve had a few instances where the fight doesn’t end and after 20 seconds it takes me back to the last phase of the fight. This is only supposed to happen if you fail to parry the red attack at the end but I clearly did here.

Not shown is when the lady in red will get stuck behind the arena after the guy in white does his combos. This also happens just as often but I’m not sure what causes it. Anyone else having these issues?

That’s really all, I just wanted to make a post expressing my appreciation for something that I feel isn’t talked enough about in this game; the music. The BGM for Jade Gate Pass and Liangzhou was great but I love the dreamy, ethereal sounds of the music in Qinchuan with the subtle changes when the seasons change. The music for this game in general, including the boss BGM’s are fantastic and one of my favorite things about it!

A small addition but it’s nice to know that it’s gonna be a long one so people can set time aside to do it in one sitting if they wish
