Best Online Chess Sites
Just realized I know embarrassingly little about online chess platforms
So I was filling out a survey earlier about chess websites, and they asked me to rate different platforms. I confidently started answering... then stopped mid-way through and thought "wait, do I actually know anything about these sites?"
I've been playing daily on chess.com for the last 6 months, ocasionally over many years, and I've dabbled with a couple others, but I always drift back to chess.com out of pure habit. I honestly couldn't tell you why it's better than the alternatives - I just know the interface and it works.
But now I'm curious: what am I missing?
For those of you who've explored the landscape:
• What's your go-to platform and why?
• What does it do better than the competition?
• Are there hidden gems I should check out?
• Is there actually a meaningful difference, or is it just personal preference?
I'm not necessarily looking to switch (chess.com is fine), but I'd love to actually understand what's out there and what makes each one worth using. Especially if there are features or communities or unique selling points I'm completely oblivious to.
