I’m a bit nervous for my future as a social worker

Hi! This might be a question and a ‘rant’ in both but I want to see if anyone else feels / or has felt the same way.

I’m studying my BSW and I’m loving it :) so much so that some of my friends have decided to change their degrees to social work because of how I talk so highly about it. And don’t get me wrong I have been ecstatic about that because my friends would make awesome social workers. But my thing is, I’m a little nervous because I’ve been recently seeing a growth in people wanting to do social work and that’s incredible but I’m nervous that it might make the work field competitive (?) and that’s freaking me out for a future in the field I have adored.

I know it’s not the end of the world and it’s high demand but I guess my question is , can social work get really competitive like psychology , law ect?

I’m just a little nervous about job security!! Let me know if you’ve had other experiences similar!! :D I’d love to hope I’m not alone

I have come to terms with myself that people use me as a ‘test- relationship” before they go and date someone they actually like. But it still hurts.

I wasn’t sure where to post this because it’s been in my mind for as long as I can remember but it’s not like I’m currently in a relationship so the other forms don’t deal with this. So I hope it’s okay to settle here :)

So basically each ‘relationship’ or situation-ship I have had has ended on the terms that “I’m not looking for a relationship” or “you deserve better” but they go on and date other people long term. Don’t get me wrong I’m very happy for them!! But it just feels like people come to me and I get so excited to potentially have a relationship I have always wanted but then it always ends for me and 9/10 they have dated other people right after. I think I just wish they didn’t lie to me? And be honest that they don’t want to date me, that’s a much easier pill to swallow!!!

This has happened in the last 3 connections I have made with people and it genuinely makes me feel like I’m not worth having around or that I’m only good enough for someone to test out their love and move on to other people(?) , it feels like I’m cursed haha! I have never really been someone’s first choice and I’ve dealt with this for so long to the point that I’m not really upset when it happens anymore.

Don’t get me wrong I’m content being by myself and single and I’m surrounded by so much love from my friends, but at times I feel like is there genuinely something wrong with me that people don’t want to stay? (I know there isn’t but you know how the brain works)

It would make sense if my friends wouldn’t want to hang around me longer but they have (I’m so thankful) and I don’t think I’m any different in a relationship than I am in platonic ones. So maybe it’s just the wrong people I keep picking.

But it’s also bittersweet, where I know that the people I have had whatever’s with, get into a relationship where both parties seem to feel loved and appreciated by one another and that is the only thing keeping me going.

(That was really nice to type out! :D)

But I’m wondering if I am alone in this haha!!
