Specifically, it ends with the kid pulling the knitted sweatshirt out and his mom says "it's a *hooo-dee*."

I'm not sure if it was a commercial or maybe a clip of a show, but the gist of it was that the kid wanted a specific shirt, so his sweet mom goes out of her way to make it for him. If I remember correctly, it was about not always getting what you want or making sure you get them the right gift, something to that extent.

My sister and I have quoted the "it's a hooo-dee" bit for ages, and I can't for the life of me remember where it came from.
