Advice for an older weirdo who still feels lost and is trying to figure out his life before it’s over

I’m approaching 50. I’ve had issues with anxiety, self-confidence, depression, and a bad memory for most of my life, though I’m finally starting to make some progress with therapy and medication. I’m trying to believe that I’m not a totally worthless loser even though everything is telling me otherwise.

I fumbled my way thru a variety of desk-jockey roles early in my career before haphazardly falling into a behavioral technician role a while back, when a friend suggested my temperament might be better suited to working with kids with autism. I worked with adolescents of various ages and some adults and did okay with it but never got certified.

Now my body is challenging me with back problems and poor eyesight and such. I’m thinking of trying to transition back into a less physical role and wondering if there might be a career path with a low barrier for entry and suits my remaining strengths — like pharmacist technician? — that I could transition into to give me some stability and direction as I get older. There’s plenty of BT work out there, but the satisfaction varies significantly from client to client based on circumstances and I’m enjoying it less now as the creaky, crumbling older guy working on his own demons

I’m prepared for and open to any and all honest feedback and suggestions for how I might proceed. Thanks for your time.
