Question regarding winning pitcher decisions
Mostly asking for opinions. I know the rules say the pitcher of record when the team takes the lead gets the statistical win, but I'm wondering what other people think should happen when a relief pitcher comes in, and gives up runs that break a tie and the team still manages to come back. It feels stupid that that pitcher gets a win in the stats given he puts the team behind.
Just curious about other folks' thoughts.
ETA: this was spurred by the Jays 10th inning win where Hoffman gave up two runs but the Jays managed to come back and win in the bottom of the inning.
