Patch 1.05 - Voice Chat Rework & Other Hotfixes

https://preview.redd.it/vsjbiv4yrioh1.png?width=1920&format=png&auto=webp&s=9641bc2054bae6a049495441d10d5ef1b0248623

Howdy explorers,

Have the new creatures lurking within the jungle been causing you trouble?

We're currently working on our next big patch, but we've also been trying to resolve some outstanding issues that have been cropping up for some players. One of these has been the performance of the in-game voice chat.

While it's been working as intended for some, we have had reports of voice chat sounding robotic or not working at all. We've overhauled it to resolve these issues and given it extensive testing. Since The Mound: Omen of Cthulhu uses spatial audio, and some sanity effects use voice, we recommend playing using the in-game voice chat.

If you continue to experience issues with the in-game voice chat, please let us know on our Discord or in the Steam Discussions. Outside of that, it's a relatively small patch, but read on for the full notes.

1.05 Patch Notes

  • Fixed voice chat corruption during crossplay and on certain systems
  • Address profile setting issues with TSR and XeSS
  • Fixed the orb from the Mound level not handling damage properly
  • Fixed achievements not being displayed correctly on Xbox

Patch 1.04 - Content Update

https://preview.redd.it/wcrhuxfn1qmh1.png?width=1536&format=png&auto=webp&s=0fc2d6b67ac24ec92ff94d391007f83a2c393a69

Hello explorers,

It's been a couple of weeks since our last update, which focused on quality-of-life improvements, with updates to our matchmaking, filters, the ability to teleport out if you get stuck, and other tweaks and changes.

Today's update is focused on bringing new content to The Mound and is part of our plans for the continued expansion and development of the game. We're able to do this thanks to the support you've shown for our game, and we hope you enjoy each update we'll continue to put out.

With this patch, there will be new creatures to avoid and a new reason to explore every nook and cranny of the map to build a new occult item. So get on out there or read on for the rest of the patch notes.

1.04 Patch Notes

New content:

  • 3 new enemies that appear in the depths of the forest. These horrors appear when you least expect them
  • New hidden jewel boxes scattered across the mainland. Find them all using the map to unlock a new Occult Item from the shop!
  • New Occult Item: The Rosary (see above)

Features Improvements:

  • Command Wheel 2.0: By popular demand we have added a new function to allow you to stop the cart and give it instructions. Proximity determines whether or not you use the horn.
  • New Lobby Codes: We now use automatically generated join codes instead of manual passwords to search for specific lobbies.
  • Optional Passwords: You can add an optional, encrypted password for private sessions.

Bug Fixes:

  • More crash, bug and freezing fixes, including getting stuck in the Galleon's shops.
  • Miscellaneous bug fixes
  • Adjustments to the melee combat

Patch 1.03 is live now!

We're back with another patch for The Mound: Omen of Cthulhu. Our latest patch focuses on Quality of Life features to improve your overall game experience. We're starting with an improved matchmaking experience with filters to show you region, language, etc. and Quickmatch that will put you in game without visiting the server list.

We've also made some improvements to in-game voice chat, optimisation, and the ability to teleport yourself out if you find yourself stuck. You can also pet Carlito, which might be the most important addition this patch.

We've got a larger patch in the works with some wider content additions planned soon, so stay tuned for that, as there is much more to come for the Mound.

1.03 Patch Notes

  • Updated voice chat, fixing audio corruption issues and improving audio spatialization.
  • New 'Quickmatch' option and matchmaking filters to find better multiplayer sessions.
  • Incorporated geometry streaming technology for better memory management and other optimisations for increased performance.
  • New 'teleport to safety' option for rare cases when players get stuck, preventing the loss of the entire mission.
  • Improved backstabbing mechanic: Players can now backstab enemies that have aggro to deal significant damage. (Enemies with no aggro are still executed)
  • Fixed spear and headshot achievements that were not unlocking under certain scenarios.
  • You can now pet 'Carlito' the Ox on the ship.
  • Added a minor stun to enemies when they are blocked, improving the blocking ability.
  • Players can reorganise their hotbar inventory with a gamepad.
  • Added a new sanity illusion.

UPDATE: A Hotfix was released to solve a new crash from Patch 3 related to the 'Blood Moon' group teleportation event in Multiplayer. (This is live on Steam and PS5, for Xbox it might take until Monday)

1.02 Patch Notes

It's been a couple of weeks since the launch of The Mound: Omen of Cthulhu.

We hope you've been enjoying the special kind of chaos that can only be brought by cosmic entities beyond our understanding, and if you think you've started to understand how things work, then we're going to have to do something about that. 😈

Foreshadowing aside, we've had a lot of feedback about the tools players have at their disposal to deal with the Mound. This is a short patch, but with some big changes. The largest of which is the addition of a block ability that will help you avoid getting overrun by the creatures coming for you.

We're aware that this could have a big effect on balance and difficulty. So we're going to be monitoring how it lands, so sound off in the comments section about how it feels in-game.

1.02 Patch Notes

Critical / Important:

  • Fix for players seeing low performance in Ultra Settings when re-launching the game
  • Fix for multiple enemies of the same class spawning in some missions
  • Progress recovery tool for all platforms based on achievement / trophies progress.
  • New block function
  • Fixed Saints not loading after missions (which was introduced in patch 1)
  • Fixed no knives appearing when playing the game in Single-Player

Improvements / Minor changes:

  • Reduced Saints blessing costs
  • Slight increase for tokens given for contract tiers
  • Rescuing a character in the mainland means a contract is successful regardless of whether or not the treasure was returned
  • Migo enemy captures players for less time in Single-Player
  • Fixed weapon appearance in ultrawide configurations
  • Captain now uses some dialogue lines which were previously not being used
  • Fix for torches losing flame
  • Improvements to local voice (some issues remain that we're looking into)

Console

  • Fix for losing progress on PS5

Last Chance Launch Offer! (PC)

As a reminder, our launch discount, the 20% off on Steam generated by our community, ends later today. It's your last chance to get in on this offer!

There's more to come for the Mound, and the dev team is hard at work. Making changes based on your feedback (hello block ability). So if you like what you see, join the expedition, and we'll see you on the island.

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT REGARDING THE PROGRESS LOSS ISSUE

We've discovered a consistent way to reproduce the progress loss issue on PS5, and possibly other platforms.

Users who spam the X button on their PS5 controllers during the game's splash screen may enter the main menu and see their progress as Rank 1 with 0 Expeditions. If you see your progress in the main menu in this state you should exit the game immediately to prevent that information from being written to your save file. At this point your save data is still intact, but if you continue to play it will be overwritten with the incorrect information.

Until the upcoming patch is released containing the fix for this issue. Players should avoid pressing the X button repeatedly while entering the game.

This patch was originally slated for this coming Monday, but will be delayed a few days in order to finally patch this issue, and include some additional features we've been working on.

Please note that this patch will also contain a way to recover most of your progress based on the information extracted from your trophies.

We apologize for this very severe issue and the damage it has caused to so many players.

The first patch for The Mound: Omen of Cthulhu is now live on Steam, Xbox and PlayStation.

Hello!

We've dropped the first patch for The Mound: Omen of Cthulhu onto Steam, Xbox and PlayStation.

This addresses a lot of the issues that people have been discussing since launch last week.

There are some improvements to optimization & camera selection, bug fixes, balance, Crossplay (particularly finding lobbies with your friends) and more.

PLEASE NOTE: If you've been playing on the beta branch, you may need to restart your Steam client or revert back to the default beta branch.

Patch notes:

Key Changes:

  • Improved performance profiles for PC
  • Optimization improvements on Consoles (more planned in a future update)
  • Added server setting to be able to find sessions using a password
  • Ability to organize items in your own inventory with a mouse during interactions with the wagon added (PC Only)
  • Modified the Saints shop so these are no longer bought at the woodshop. Saints are now equipped for a smaller cost at the ox wagon before an expedition
  • Added a pre-configuration screen on first launch letting players choose a cinematic camera or a standard camera (standard camera may help with feelings of delayed interaction or motion sickness)
  • Key bindings are now saved between sessions

Balance

  • "Censer mission" updated with several improvements. Purple corruption areas modified and are slower to kill players.
  • Crawling canopy enemy (spider) does 50% less damage.
  • Added a machete to the starting gear of all missions so players are never stuck with only knives.
  • Adjustments to general enemy damage difficulty
  • Slightly buffed stamina and run speed when tired.
  • Knives do slightly more damage.
  • Pole weapons have a bit more range.
  • Enemies take longer to spawn when the forest wakes up.

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed replication for some death animations, which was causing T-posing.
  • Fixed replication of the "bleeding" state on clients who were not seeing the effect.
  • Fixed cases of players getting stuck on walls after climbing.
  • Fixed "Game Saving" icon not being displayed with some events.
  • Fixed motion blur setting slider.
  • Fixed Mi-Go enemy behaviour which did not cause them to search for players, so they rarely showed up in game sessions.
  • Fixed a crash related to isolation fog.
  • Fixed many other minor bugs.

Misc

  • Added far LODs for many areas where pop-in was visible.

Please Note: we still have more improvements planned, including further optimization improvements (particularly on PlayStation that will be in the following patch). We have two other known issues that will be fixed in the following patch.

  • Saints are disappearing after one expedition unless you restart a lobby
  • Issues where mics are not correctly being picked up in-game
